I wonder how we can prevent this site from becoming like a political/haters' forum?

I have to say that the only time I was forced to 'lay over' with the camper because I was tired, was in a pickle park on the Interstate. Restrooms are handy, usually pop machines and parking in between big trucks isn't all that bad.

Better than a Walmart parking lot.

Just to let everyone know, just because a few of us occasionally spend a few hours in a Walmart or Sams parking lot when we need to rest, it doesn't mean that we are too cheap or can't afford a campsite. Usually it means that either there is not a campground nearby in the direction we are traveling, or that we needed to stop for supplies anyhow, and decided to rest for a bit before going on. If we do spend a while in the parking lot, we usually will spend more than a campground would cost in the store before we leave. The campground would be a lot cheaper!!

I napped in Walmart, Cracker Barrel, Costo and Menards parking lots. Never 'camped' in any though.

Similar to Walmart, the decision is up to local manager -- or subject to the city regulations.

it's best to ask the manager of each particular location, or call ahead before arrival. Good manners would also dictate purchasing something from the location before you leave, even if it's just a snack or something inexpensive
