Not your normal hidden Gem - Oak Hollow Lake Camp Ground in High Point Zoom in on CG - right on the Lake - DW enjoys the furniture shopping here. Great spot to just enjoy a few days, not too crowded in the Winter.

Guess that's it! Right on the Lake/Reservoir. One of a hand full of CG that I'd recommend, just a little Hidden Gem on the way south.

Jacksonville, Florida. Just a few hours south of your target area, and usually warmer weather. Several world class museums, great sports teams, world class golf, very first European settlement in North America (Ft. Caroline), interesting intact slave plantation (Kingsley Plantation), great seafood restaurants (Clark's Fish Camp like no other restaurant in the world-look it up), fun auto ferry across St. Johns river, and camping on the ocean or inland at many nice campgrounds.

Huntington Beach State Park near Murrels Inlet, SC. Great beach, wonder local seafood nearby, superior golf should you choose, and of course all the shopping or decadence you may desire not far away in Myrtle Beach.
