I do not know for a fact but I am thinking driving the winter roads in Michigan covered in salt and brine would be worse. I'll chance camping on the beach.

I wondered about the salt and rust issues from camping on the beach. Also thought about all the blowing sand getting in the nooks and crannies of the axles and suspension of both the trailer and vehicle. Is this a big problem? Any remedies?

It will be hard to clean all that salt out from under your camper. Be ready for rust!

If you camp long term on the beach be prepared for lots of rust.

Bolivar Peninsula is my favorite but All beaches in Galveston county are useable and cost $10.00 per year to dry camp. I drive my class A right out

There are a fairly large number of places you can beach camp in Texas. As mentioned above "north beach" is one offering about 8 miles of camping and south beach ALSO offers another 60 or so miles of open beach camping but beyond the first five miles a 4X4 is required. Another is located on South Padre Island (instead of Padre Island) and across the inlet on Boca Chico beach (South of South Padre Island and directly south of the town of Padre Island) and this one usually means isolation from other campers. Another semi developed area on North Padre is Bird Island Basin which is on the lagoon side of the island instead of the bay side.
