Just got this information about Oregon SP.

The state park system will remain closed after May 8. Overnight and other reservations will be automatically cancelled until at least after May 25. Weโ€™re working daily on plans to re-open some parks for daytime visits as soon as itโ€™s safe to do it, but we donโ€™t have dates yet. Camping will restart after day-use. Itโ€™ll all happen when we can meet health goals and our neighbor communities are ready. When we do start to open, things will be a bit different to protect you, our staff and volunteers, and the park. Stay safe, and see you soon! Visit https://oregonstateparks.org/index.cfm?do=v.dsp_featureArticle&articleId=272 for the latest information as it becomes available. #ORstateparked #stayhomesavelives

"Safe" is the rational. Watch any YouTube video or read any article that quotes or contains speak from a politician, notably most state Governors whose affiliation is non withstanding, although there are noticeable differences in the philosophies if you can call it that between affiliations.

"We have to keep you safe", or "We have to keep the public safe", or "It's all about being safe", or "We are thinking of safety", or "We want to be safe".

Do you feel any safer than you felt 9 weeks ago? How do you like the new "safe" normal? Safe, safe, safe, sure glad we're all safe.

Closed for overnight camping but keep the park open for day use but close the bathroom facilities for everyone. Sure, that makes a lot of sense. People are protesting the over-reach of government. People are protesting to open up their cities and states. Why is AZ and other states open for camping (AZ never closed) and Oregon is closed? Why have some states never locked down while others want to stay closed seemingly forever? What is the rational?

Our states, our nation, are real close to collapsing from the extended shutdown. How many millions of people are out of work? 20 million? 30 million? More? That's a lot of pain and suffering going on. Who is in favor of burning down the house to save it? We have some governors opening their states while some others are tightening the nooses. And the rational is? We need to open up this country and get people back to work.

This virus isn't the evil gennie it's been made out to be, There's a 98+% survival rate but some would have you believe it's the other way around. This lock was only meant to keep hospital beds available. Well the demand for hospital beds for covid was never there and the hospitals are on the verge of financial failure.

It's time to put it behind us and move on. Remember, we have Constitutional Rights that are being trampled. If you don't want to venture outside then don't but the rest of us should be allowed to exercise our Rights to go back to work, go to the beach or go camping.

Strange things have/are happening in my opinion.

Close the rv camping in parks but leave the rest areas along interstates open.
Close the hospitals from taking care of the sick and injured but leave the pot shops open for business.

Now the latest crazieness heard today, we will reopen the resturants but people will have to wear a mask and tell who they are and where they live in case someone gets sick later. Really, I don't know what you can eat through a mask, maybe soup but I'm pretty sure you would get it in your ears trying to strain it through your mask.

Our county in Southern Oregon opened its parks to self contained RV's starting yesterday. No restrooms open, no sales of ice, firewood, etc. maintain social dis--- blady blady bla. Ninty space RV park, 4 RV's pretty easy to maintain all the requirements. We sure enjoyed getting the RV out for a couple of days and
not being able to listen to the 6 o'clock doom and gloom show.

Great camping and great weather, we all enjoyed the break.

It is ok to wait for the right time to open up everything. We are in an Oregon State Park currently doing maintenance right now....mowing/blowing and cleaning up brush. Had some people try to drive in the park(which is blocked off and closed signs everywhere...(they drove down from Washington) when they could not get in......they went up the road and parked then walked back down and into the park. Told them the park was closed and they said all they wanted to do was look at the site they were going to be camping in for August. I asked them what site they reserved and they had no idea!!!

A smart state you live in, taking this pandemic serious. With an average of 130 new infections daily, you sure would hate to be one of them. Other states are not taking this serious enough, and they might pay a high price for that.

Not sure how smart it is to keep a states economy shut down when you have an overall population of 4.2 million, and you are having an average of 130 new infections per day.

I guess the only solution is to keep everything closed forever.

Agree 100%. The potential for contracting or spreading the virus in a campground when you follow the CDC guidelines for hygiene and distancing is next to nil. Here in SC we have had 177 deaths which while tragic for the families is a rounding error on a rounding error when compared to the total population. We have thousands of people out of work, hundreds of businesses teetering on closing permanently, so in many cases the cure is worse than the disease.

I think that the Oregon Park shutdown had more to do with the concerns expressed by the small communities near the parks and their lack of medical facilities than camper to camper contagion within the Park. The small communities just don't want the influx of campers/visitors - some of the beach communities actually have signs that tell visitors to stay away.

It will certainly be welcome when Oregon again fully opens their state parks. Oregon has the best state park system of any of the 49 states I have visited. As an out of state visitor, I trust them to do the right thing.
