Things to do around Grayton Beach

My wife and I will be there July 9-13, celebrating our 24th anniversary. I was wanting to know about any good resturants close by and shopping. Also how good is fishing in the gulf and the lake this time of the year.

Didn't care for the state park so much, but it was a good place to stay to visit Seaside, which we love.

The great southern cafe is awesome. We got steamed oysters and shrimp from goat feathers and took back to campsite to eat. Will definitely do that again. We like the back porch in Destin.

Its actually east of Destin on 98. South of Destin is the Gulf of Mexico! 🙂

I am not a fisherman myself. But, I have a friend who is down there right now and he took his boat and plans on doing some freshwater fishing. You have the gulf as well as the Choctawatchee Bay to choose from as well as a bunch of coastal dune lakes (which are brackish). You can fish from shore or take a charter. I think there are a couple of charters based out of Grayton Beach if you want to go out on the Gulf. Just head down in the Grayton Beach. Or ask the rangers at the park. They will know.

One of my recent favorite restaurants down off 98, off Bald Eagle Drive, near where 30A meets 98 in Santa Rosa Beach, Marigny. I think it has only been open less than a year. Great food without the tourist trap prices like Stinky's. If you may just want a PoBoy for dinner, don't try to get it at Stinky's, they won't serve you a PoBoy for dinner, only at lunch time.

I was in there last July and the roads needed to be worked on a lot of pot holes a lot of the sites needed to be built up they were holding water or alot of mud in the sites.

Just curious about what issues you'll had at St. Andrews? We spent 3 days there last fall and had a great time with not problems at all. Well I would have liked to cut down one pine tree but we are planning on going back.

CAFE 30A. 5-6:30p or so two for one. You will go back a second night it is worth it.

No reason to go to PCB or Destin. You'll have most of what you want right there on 30-A.

Good places to eat:
Seagrove Village Market - great grouper sandwiches (the place doesn't look like much but it is fantastic)

Goatfeathers - I didn't like the restaurant but they have good fresh fish.

Cafe Tango - Wonderful food. Reservations are a must.

Bud and Alley's - Have a cocktail on the rooftop bar. You can eat dinner up there, too.

There is a Publix off of CR395 in WaterColor.

Grayton Bar & Grill - Live music and good food.

The Red Bar - in downtown Grayton. Its a landmark.

Louis Louis - Owned by the same folks that own the Red Bar. Good food. But, bring cash. They don't accept credit cards.

Restaurant Paradis - Rosemary Beach. Good food.

Whiskey Bravo 723 - Good views of the Gulf and good food. We prefer the rooftop bar.

There's plenty more.

As far as shopping goes, there are a bunch of places in Seaside, Rosemary, and Grayton (especially Seaside). There are also small enclaves of shops all up and down 30-A. Believe me, my wife never has any issue keeping herself busy with shopping on 30-A. But, if you do need a bigger shopping area, I would head to the Silver Sands Outlet down on the east side of Destin (its close to Sandestin).

That little shopping center has a restaurant called the Broken Egg. Very good breakfast! Trendy and sort of yuppy, but good. A little deli around Seaside or Seagrove (east of the park) named the Cocoon Deli, I believe, had amazing deli food. Various fish dips and amazing smoked shrimp. Our last trip there we were told the smoked shrimp was not an every day thing. Best call first, but very, very worth it!
