We are thinking of spending next winter in AZ and was wondering if anyone had any feedback on Val Vista Village or similar RV resorts.

I have looked at rvparkreviews.com but would like some first hand feedback.

Thanks.

Thanks for the input. We are attracted to the Cal-Am resorts because of the large variety of amenities available. A chance to try new things ๐Ÿ™‚ Maybe we will see you next season if we choose Canyon Vistas.

Thanks for the input I will have to let DW decide if 30 minutes is to far. Did you find a place closer?

Any of the Cal-Am resorts are going to be nice. They are more expensive because they offer a lot. We like it here at Canyon Vistas so much that we recently purchased a Park model with an addition for our permanent home. We also own an RV lot in a resort in Indiana for summers. We like the fact that Gold Canyon is a small town. We are 15 minutes to Mesa and 6-8 minutes to Apache Junction depending on the two stoplights. Basha's grocery and Chase bank are less than a mile along with many other businesses.

Canyon Vista isn't 'a little to the East' it is a minimum of 30 minutes (or more depending upon the time of day) to the east. Nice park, but we ended up having to do such long drives to get to everything we decided it wasn't worth it.

Thanks to all for the replies

Dick good advice thanks.

Supercharged nice bit of trivia. I was hoping for a more recent review LOL.

2gypsies The wife wants to sit in one place for the winter and partake of the amenities. Lost Dutchman state park really looks nice might try and make a stop on the way in or out.

George thanks for the info.

Chris Canyon Vistas sounds good doesn't seem to far from "the city" which is DW requirement. Will seriously consider it.

Canyon Vistas RV Resort another Cal-AM resort a little to the East in Gold Canyon has larger lots and a much higher percent of RV vs park models. It is also less of a metro camping experience.

One of the Cal-Am parks in AZ. Nice park lots of activities and you can interact with the other Cal-Am parks if you want. I workcamped for the Decor Team there last year. They celebrated everything.

It's a huge park with a lot of permanent park models - like most parks in the Phoenix/Mesa/Apache Junction area. We enjoy the Maricopa county parks and Lost Dutchman State Park - only 14 day stays though unless you move from park to park.

My folks were number 13 to move in when it was new. They loved it. Both are gone but enjoyed every min. they live there. I would say it was late 60's or early 70's when they moved in. I have not been there in 22 years now. How about that story.
So big a world, so little time to see.

There are numerious RV parks/resorts in the Mesa, Phoenix and on the west side of the valley. First, make of list of "must have" amenities, facilities and activities that meet the needs of you and the family. Be specific, i.e. size of pools, jacuzzies, 9 hole or 18 hole golf course, number of pickle ball courts, wifi, computer room, library, tennis courts, size of each RV site, cement slabs, laundry facilities, entertainment presentions presented in the park, resturant within park. Go on line and look at each park out. What are the rates, weekly, monthly, 3 or 4 months, price of electricity. What is the Good Sam rating of each park? If possible, pick a RV resort/park for one week. Use that week to go visit and see for yourself all your top choices and then decide which one you want to stay for an extended time.

Val vista village is rated "9.5, 9.5 9.5 out of a possible 10.0.
