Hi,

Thought I would introduce ourselves and post a link to my blog which is probably the best way to explain who we are and what we are trying to achieve in saving a little piece of American history for future generations. I hope you like it??

I saw 3 yellow bottles of Pennzoil in the engine picture . I hope you are using the correct oil: straight SAE 40 CF-2 rated oil. Detroit Diesel 2 strokes are quite particular about what lube oil is used!!!

I've been following your blog for quite a while - fantastic project! I almost bought a 47 Clipper here in Denver before I knew anything about them. Just saw it and fell for it! But, I was in my mid-20's, single, new homeowner, etc. Didn't seem like a rational purchase for me at the time, but I still wonder "what if?" (Almost bought a Unimog camper the same way a couple years ago...seems like a pattern for me. Still not sure if I should have pulled the trigger on one or both!)

Anyway, somehow when you post updates on your blog, they don't register as new posts. Are you just adding content to the same post each time? If so, could you create a new post for each update? If you create a new post for each update, blog readers (like Feedly) can tell there is a new post and let followers like me know about it. ๐Ÿ™‚

Do you have a thread on your project?

Fortunately/Unfortunately (still not sure which), I didn't buy either the Flxible or the Unimog, and thus have no fun projects to share. ๐Ÿ˜›

As one who also lives overseas from the US, I also think it would be a shame to ship it off to its new home right away. See a bit, put it in storage, come back, see some more. Repeat as often as it takes.

We bought ours thinking that a few years would be enough & we would be ready to return to our boating in Bermuda. Well, it has been 8 years of travel, over 150,000 miles on the truck, & we still have not had our fill.

Meanwhile it is a very nice boat that we have in storage that now needs a restoration job.

I hope you find a way to tour the USA in your Flxible before taking it back to UK.

January 2015 will be the start of the push to get answers and find out what's going on. The late owners daughter seems to be trying to get to the bottom of what's happened since her dad died and I want to give her some time and space. Hopefully, following the holidays, things will get back on track.

I would love to see more of the USA when we do come over but time off work will limit what we can achieve.

Thanks for the replies, much appreciated.

I hope that the bus will be completed by March/ April 2015.

I have a flickr account that has a lot more of the build pictures on it:

Great project! Sorry you're having trouble as you approach the finish line. If I read your latest post correctly, you're having trouble reaching the shop where the bus is? There's a pretty big audience in this forum - maybe someone close by can swing by the shop to check on it?

If you get it completed, I would not just drive it to Texas to be shipped to the UK.

When will be the next time you and your wife and the bus will be here in the US again? Take some time and travel the US and see some things before shipping it back to the UK. It would be a huge missed opportunity if you didn't.

I agree with the above statement.

What a project! Those old coaches are real classy. I loved the line early on "The next thing to do was work out how to tell my wife what I'd done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I hope the project turns out to be everything you envisioned. Good Luck.
