Bedroom slide Window - Headboard Solution

At the head of the Queen bed is a window (Emergency Exit)on the bedroom slide.

We have been looking for a solution to prevent the pillows from damaging the shade.

Tried a lightweight panel headboard, didn't work out as we hoped.

Has anyone come up with a solution for protecting the window shade from the pillows?

This has to be a common problem, with creative solution!

Again, thanks for the ideas.

Just ordered a new Bali blind for the Bedroom Window. Just 2 more day/night shades to replace with the Bali's.

Decided to use a curtain (I think it's called a Cafe Curtain). Anyway the curtain will be on an pressure extension rod placed about halfway down the window, and the blind can be lowered to the top of the curtain.

This should keep the blind from blind from being damaged.

Liked the foam idea also.

Thanks again.

We made a 8" x 8" square foam cushion, covered with fabric, the exact length of the window sill, and placed it on the sill. It keeps the pillows from migrating off the bed onto the window, and provides a degree of comfort when sleeping as well. Looks nice as we covered it with the same material as our sheet set.

Thanks for the ideas, will have to thunk on it some more.

We tried the false headboard, thought about curtains.

I like the grill idea from the linked thread for ivylog. Gives access to the knobs to open window, still accessible for emergency.

my parents had that problem in the MH, including accidentally hitting the emergency latch and opening the window late at night a couple of times. They ended up getting a piece of plexiglass that they pushed in at the head between the mattress and the wall. it went in front of valance so it could be easily removed in an emergency, but stayed put to keep pillows, etc from pushing against window.

That's it Roy. Our mattress is a little thicker and goes almost to the lower ledge of the window.

If the cabinets were cherry, I'd have to ask how you got the picture of my bedroom!:B
