why not try using an electric roaster oven, and store away when not needed! my 22 quart one works great for this...

Very interested in this too. My wife uses the oven in our stick house all the time, not for baking, but for cooking things like prime rib, leg of lamb, roasting veggies, etc. I have heard that people struggle to get good results from the standard RV ovens. Is that true? Can you get good results from a gas RV oven? With regard to convection, I can't imagine a convection microwave can make a beautiful rare prime rib... Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm struggling to believe it.

So, has anyone retrofitted a 24" apartment gas range into their RV? If so, I'd like to hear about it - pics would be even better.

Our retrofit would be into a 5er, and not a park model with big sliding glass doors, so - not entirely sure we can get one through the door. Measuring tape time...

Since full size is generally 30", ( you can get a smaller 24" ), you need to have the space. I wonder if one would fit through the rv door.
I have seen a lot of park models with a 24" stove installed.

Getting a 'residential' size oven into RV is the biggest problem.

Modifying the cabinet/counter top is not difficult

Natural gas ovens can run on LP...just have to change orifice.
Is it time for your medication or mine?

I have friends who converted a school bus. They put in their 30" lp gas range and run the 110vAC stuff (ignitor and electronics) off the inverter so they can still bake if the power goes off. Their thoughts were the largest rv range required a 24" cabinet space to install. The residential slide in range required 30". Only 6" more. Since they are fulltimers and like to cook/freeze meals, they opted to keep the residential range. They say the residential range cooks far better and uses 1/4 of the lp that their rv range did plus they cook far more now and still only go thru a 20 lb tank in 3 or 4 months. Pretty good considering how heavily they use the range. It's enough to convince me to convert a school bus and build it like they did, using mostly residential appliances, etc. They put the burner grates, spreaders and caps in the bottom drawer (modified to lock) while traveling.

If you can alter the cabinet to gain 4 to 5 inches below the oven, then it should be an easy swap.

I'm a baker, but quit baking much when we got an RV LP oven. Instead, I used it for pan storage. Then we upgraded the RV which had no LP oven, but a GE Micro/Convection.

Since then, I've done turkeys, pies, cakes, muffins, biscuits, cookies and my homemade lasagna. Wouldn't use anything else.

Ours came with the "small" oven, 17". After a bunch of futile cooking attemps, and not enough cooking room DW agreed to buy a "full sized" oven "21 inch". took a little reworking but DW says, and I agree, that the difference in cooking quality is HUGE. Much easier to cook evenly, better results, seldom need a pizza pan to spread the heat around.

Did need to do a temp check on the oven vs. knob and relabeled the knob to match actual oven temps, they are known for being off quite a bit. Our 17" and new 21" read between 25 and 40 degrees low depending on the set temperature.

An LP RV size oven is doable, but there are many stories about uneven cooking and overall poor performance. A full home size oven, never seen one in an RV.

I've only seen a full home size range in one park model. In an RV you'd need at least twice the space to put a home size oven in and would still need a cook top. The wife does a lot of baking and has no problem with the RV size. I added another rack and pizza stone to the oven for more even heating.

A convection oven may work better than the RV gas ovens. It would be a problem to have a regular oven unless you get a gas oven that runs off propane. My parents did have one in a travel trailer years ago, but I'm not sure how well it did or didn't work for them. I never heard any comments regarding the oven.

Unlike many here I would not own an RV of any kind without a full size oven. Just too many delicious meals that can only be made in the oven (we are currently home but I am doing Prime Rib, a two bone 5 pounder this afternoon and will be repeating this favorite in a couple of weeks up at Zion). I don't do the baking thing but my bride does and her banana nut cranberry muffins and brownies are not to be missed. A lot of rigs come with a combo Convection/Microwave which will work well too. :C
