Hi I have a Forest River V cross 5th wheel. Was wondering if there is a reasonable way to add a 4th step to the unit. The steps are manual. Has anyone done this?

I use one of those exercise steps. It sets about 5 inches tall and was a $1 at a garage sale.

Cool but $170 is too much, IMO.

We use the CW portable, adjustable step, when needed.

If you want to replace the complete stair assembly for lots of $$ (I assume), there is the GlowGuide stairs along with their Add-A-Step by Torklift.

GlowGuide stairs

There is also the Quadra Step 4 stair setup. Quadra Step Don't know about the rise measurements and if the overall height is no better than what you have already. Not as expensive as I would have thought. Available at Tweetys for $217 before shipping cost. Tweetys

We have 3 steps on our TT and have wrap around tread covers. When the steps are folded out, the bottom one is often pretty close to the ground and twice in the past season, the underside of the cover has been destroyed by rubbing on the gravel in a campsite from when we walk in and out. I'd gladly have our last step higher off the ground...

Another approach: make a wooden box, store some heavy stuff in it, and use it as a step when needed. Heavy is good - it will stay in place.

Have you considered something like this?

If you add a 4th tread and then park on a campsite with a high spot under the stairs you could have a problem.
