Weber BBQ mod

I am finally getting around to documenting the mods on my trailer and since this one has come up a number of times I thought I would share it for anyone who is thinking of doing the same.

I have a Weber Q120 BBQ that I wanted to mod to use with the trailer propane port (see pic)

So I followed the following instructions from the net to do it

What I had:
- a Weber Q120 with the original thruway bottle regulator
- a 1/4" BBQ port on the trailer with shutoff

I ended up having to get the following:
- 10' gas hose 1/4" to connect to quick release with shutoff valve on trailer
- 1/4" shutoff valve with 1/4" quick release to go on the BBQ side of the hose
- 1/4" quick release for the BBQ to connect to hose
- 1/8" to 1/4" adapter to connect quick release to burner on BBQ
- roll of gas tape
I got the parts at Lowes and my RV dealer

Hose with quick release

BBQ

You can also put a quick release on the old regulator so it can be reattached to the BBQ if necessary to run on a throw away bottle or also to attach an external 20# tank if you want the flexibility.

Does anyone know if the model 250 quick connect (female) would match for fit on the quick connect (male) on the Mr Heater Big Buddy propane heater? Thanks.

I did the same thing...work great...in addition, I added a quick connect to the original weber regulator...that way I can easily use the 1 pound cylinders if I want to take the grill farther away from the RV.

Thanks for the thorough write up. I've seen several, and yours is the easiest to follow.

I'm buying a Q200, I hope it will work the same?

So you skipped the regulator all together? The webber regulator is not so great. I've already had them replace one.

On mine, I took the regulator off since I'm drawing regulated gas off the trailer. Don't need 2 regulators in the system.

I did the same thing with parts from Calore too. Works great Easy mod, thanks for taking the time to help others. As I recall, I unscrewed the regulator with my hand, didn't even need a wrench. The only think I left off was the shutoff on the hose. My trailer has a hose that pulls out of a mouse hole and has a shut off.

Nice job, When I tried it I couldn't get the regulator to break loose. After seeing this with the parts listed I'll try again.

I recall it took some force to break the seal. I think there was pipe dope on it just to make me work harder...
