I know your not suppose to ------ but will it lift the trailer if I need to change a tire? A new trailer we are looking at has them.

Has anyone tried it.

thanks

I can state something obvious though - no two people are going to agree on what is correct - so I file it under the "I don't care anymore" file.

Glad we got that cleared up.

Hysterical laughter.
Been in the boiler industry for over 40 years and that's the best description of the average boiler maker I've ever heard!
Can't wait to tell that one at the next Boiler Inspector's (NBIC) meeting.

Didn't expect that. Put some levelers down under the tires to correct that. GVW for our Montana is just shy of 16K. Yes they will lift the unit off the ground!

I'm trying to understand this - did you just stuff some blocks under the tires, or did you lay some down and re-park the 5er on top of them and then re-level? If the jacks are carrying the weight of the trailer, I just don't see the point of stuffing blocks under there unless you actually transfer a substantial amount of the load back onto the tires.

I thought stating that i moved the 5th wheel to put it onto blocks (lynx levelers) was sort of stating the obvious.

I was wrong.

Yes I moved my fifth wheel and put lynx levelers down prior to putting the Jacks back down.

Sorry

You don't work under a load and a trailer up on rigging (jacks are rigging) is a load. In my trade (boilermakers, Local 1, Chicago) we lifted hundreds of tons with hydraulic rams. And we always set such a load on cribbing before venturing under it. But you shoe clerks out there can suit yourselves.

Not sure what the difference would be; putting a hydraulic jack underneath, or using the levelers?

I've changed a tire with mine, but I've also had shops that refuse to use it. One says it puts too much pressure on the jacks and they start leaking - "huh?" Oh well, he can drag his jacks round under there if he wants.

I do know that when the wheels come off the ground, the spring straps that hold the leaves together will sometimes spread open and I have to get under them and tighten them.

I don't see why it wouldn't. Our 4 point Big Foot system lifts ours off the ground just fine. We only do it when when changing a tire of when Dutch is lubing the brakes. It makes the job so much easier. Hugs, Di

No problem...have used it many times to change tires, etc. As for twisting the frame...not gonna happen. Level up is designed so that all legs work in unison keeping the frame "flat and square" at all times. If you lift one side the other drops keeping everything straight...it will "time out" once the legs over extend.
