Anderson Hitch - unhitching

Hi guys. I have a Anderson Ultimate Aluminum hitch ball in box mount and very happy with it! Only minor issue is when I am unhitching the ball gets hung up on the adapter till it finally releases after lifting truck up small amount. I've backed up truck, pulled forward and put in neutral to take pressure off ball but can't seem to get the sweet spot for releasing. One would think that when raising 5er it would pull back on the hitch so backing up slightly would do the trick but not so. Anybody else notice this issue. I'll give Anderson a call for solution.

Ultimate for a couple years now and never had this issue. When you twist and unlock are you able to pull the release cable out all the way or is it stuck?

Definitely give Jason at Andersen a call. Your hitch has a lifetime warranty and if the problem can't be solved they will ship you a new hitch for free. There customer responsiveness is excellent.

I make sure I have chocks on the rear trailer axles. Other than that I may or may not reverse the truck to relieve pressure. It's definitely not as easy hitching or unhitching than the B&W Patriot I used prior.

Interesting statement! They may revoke your membership in the club! Chris

LOL, yeah and it tows exactly the same. Go figure.

Don't see a problem here, seems normal...make sure you truck break is on and chocks are set.

I agree,I don't see a problem either. Curious as to what a small amount its lifting the truck, sounds typical of a ball hitch, they do hang up a bit sometimes before they release.

Mine seems to release pretty smooth , there might be a slight hesitation coming up ,and then releases. They really have no choice but to release.

I took out momemtary jack switch and put in double throw. I set it in up and get in the truck, while in neutral. Ready on the break till the ball clears. It stopped the catching you speak of

LOL, yeah and it tows exactly the same. Go figure. Big plus is I can lift it out a heckuva lot easier. One time I was at a big hardware store and bought a dishwasher for a remodel I was doing. I simply lifted the rear seat bottom up in my truck and slide the Andersen in the back.

No grease. Just be sure the pin is out all the way and you shouldn't have any issues.

Don't grease the ball... I did and it hangs up all the time. I've cleaned it and clean it again and it still hangs up. I'm going get some degreaser and have at it again... Next time I'll use silicone or something dry.

spray some dry lube on the ball first
