Attaching to walls

I was wondering how you guys attach things to the walls. We got out new toy hauler and we wanted to add towel bars/rack in the bathroom as well as a few others things through out but the walls seem thin and unable to support much of anything. I was told I have aluminum studs in the walls so that might complicate things. Thanks for any help.

I had good luck using some Cobra Anchors called Panal Drillers in our Toy Hauler garage. I was able to mount some helmet racks and other things. You need to see how much space from one sheet of luan to the next that you have or from the luan on the inside to the outer fiberglass. I drilled them in with a bit of Gorilla glue on the inside of the head so they wouldn't easily vibrate out.

I have used the same sheetrock anchors in my cyclone to install a toilet paper holder etc. They seem to work pretty well.

How did you get that PDF?

Thank you for asking. Led to a trip into my memories.

It came from our moderator, Y-Guy in October '06 and thank you for them Steve. I had purchased my '06 Raptor in September and I used to pester him and others a lot back then. He had a Raptor before that and picked up the plans when he had a chance. He told me he got them to share so if you or anyone else needs a copy please let me know.

These plans are actually for the 3712 which has the slide out kitchen. I have a 3612 which is a 3712 without the kitchen slide. But I can tell you these plans are nice to have. Every RV sold should come with a set for that vehicle.

Depends on what you're hanging of course. I have stud plans for my toyhauler in a PDF (amazing how sparse the studs are). I use the 3M stick on hooks where possible. really handy in the bedroom and kitchen.

To hang my 37" TV I used a combination of a larger piece of plywood attached to the wall with molly bolts and real bolts where possible. On the other side use the kitchen cabinets. I hung this 7 years ago and it's been over the Alcan a few times since.

I also put a cargo slide (like you see in Class A's) in the loft bed space. I put my bolts for the rails next to the frame and used fender washers for grip. I full-time and keep this loaded with bulk items from Costco and seasonal clothing.

I used molly bolts for a 3" wide piece of oak mounted by the front door and hung coat hooks off of that.

I'll probably never sell my toyhauler because I've got so much work in it.

This morning I've got my PDF out checking stud spacing so I can put up a piece of plywood in the garage to hang my 8' ladder off of.

We use the K10 Mini and really like it, took some time getting used to how much water to pour in and at what point. The little light indicator helps alot (Figured this out after several overfilled cups, lol).

Heating water quickly is a high energy usage activity. The more watts/ amps - the faster you get that first cup of coffee.

We leave the Mini at my father's house for our occasional visits and the K75 is now in the trailer. Never had any problem with it, but I wouldn't try to run it and the microwave at the same time in our old 30Amp trailer. And I won't either in the new 50Amp trailer.

For boondocking though I still have a French Press.

From the Keurig web site:

K10 Mini - Power: 1,425 Watts
K75 Platinum & K45 Elite - Power: 1,500 Watts

The B130 you see in a lot of motels runs lowest - Power: 700 Watts

Keurig doesn't list amps but several folks have posted tests - the run 10-12 amps for about 10 minutes.

A coffer maker is often the second or first most powerful draw in an RV.

A Mr. Coffee type coffee maker draws 850-1050 watts and around 7.5 amps depending upon how quickly it is designed to brew.

Even the old reliable Faberware 8 Cup Percolator is a 1,000 watt device.

I was surprised, I looked at our house Cuisinart, only to see that it is at 1075 watts (IIIRC). I never thought it pulled more than the Keurig. With that being said, two RV trailers, never a problem

I use two large type command type hooks for hanging the towles. I think there is a reason the manufacturer never seems to ad towel racks in the bathrooms. I have had several rigs and none of them had towel racks. If you use screws, anchors and they pull out you got a mess to deal with..

We have the platinum in ours. Occasionally it pops the breaker which is a 15amp. Our original drip style brewer would also pop the breaker occasionally as well.

Thanks for the replies and the info. I can't wait to get it set up the way we want it but I assume that's going to be an ongoing thing. Does anyone use the one cup keurig in there rv? I wonder how many watts it pulls.

We use a Keurig. Had it on the counter in the TH when we had it, great for when we pulled into a rest stop and DW wanted a cup of coffee. Fired up the generator and had coffee a few minutes later. Sits on the counter in our new TT. Rides there just fine, has never moved in either trailer and doesn't pull anymore power than a regular coffee pot.
