Looks like it was a campground hit by a major tornado on the evening news but the way it was reported we are led to believe it was a mobile home park. Hey, those were RV's not mobile homes!! Was this near Waverly Virginia?? Anybody know for sure??

Looks like the TT next to the DRV had the advantage of that big unit next to it.

I assure you it was luck. Being a DRV had nothing to do with it.

One pic I saw, showed 2 TTs with nothing left but their frames and floors. The entire superstructures of both were just gone. Nothing left above the floor; no beds, toilets, cabinets...nothing. Crazy.

Terrible. ๐Ÿ˜ž Even on a short overnight stay I always al least locate the bath house and if it looks worthless I try to find something of substance if the weather looks like it might be questionable. We've never had to make a run to one but then is not the time to come up with a destination and a route!

We were in a central Ohio camp ground when the tornado warning went off in a neighboring town. The problem, we had 0 idea where it might be headed and had no idea if the camp ground had a shelter.
The first part of the equation I took care of by purchasing a Recom weather radio with Specific Area Message Encoding (SAME)technology. It is powered from the trailers battery.
The Where to go in case of, needs to be our concern when we book.

I stayed at that RV park a couple of years ago....Sugar Hill, while touring local plantations. It was originally set up as a FEMA park for hurricane Katrina victims. When we were there it was occupied mainly by workers employed by the local petro-chemical companies. I guess in one sense you could call it a "trailer park" because of all of the families and permanent residences. A real tragedy. While looking at the overhead photos I could see the exact spot we occupied. We wouldn't have made it.

That picture looks horrible!! Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of those poor people that went through all of that!

I hope we NEVER get to experience that type of carnage! We've been in a few bad thunderstorms but NOTHING like what's pictured. Very very sad.

Waverly, VA was hit by a tornado, but it hit some houses and left only splinters where the houses used to stand. There were 2 adults and a 3 year old killed in Waverly and another person killed in Appomattox, VA according to the news reports this morning.
