Chevy 2500 HD

We currently have a W.W. FSC2800 now its time to upgrade. We are going the 5th wheel toy hauler route. The issue i have is the TV is a 2006 2500 HD 6.0 gas with 4.10 axle and bags (Yes i know i am planning to upgrade the truck in a couple of years) I'm looking for some suggestions on what 5er would be suitable. The dealer has the wife looking at a voltage but I've been reading that they have poor workmanship.

The problem is that your 3/4 ton is not going to like towing the Voltage. You are in a conundrum; because if you buy a fifth wheel you can handle now you will end up wanting bigger when you upgrade the truck. Sort of a catch-22.

Right now the truck handles the WW with no problem. Sway is definitely an issue for it even with the dual cam sway control hitch. Yes the 5er's mentioned above are some of the ones we plan on checking out at the Hershey rv show Thanks for all the input!

I've got a 2012 Chevy with same motor and gears. Did a lot of searching for a 5w TH last winter... Slim pickins' for sure. The rule of thumb I came up with was if the 5w has 3 axles it's too big for that truck. And any 5w TH you get is going to be pushing your tow limits. I'd advise you to get to the scales after you pick up your new TH and make sure you know what your loaded tow weight will be. You WILL be close to exceeding your towing limits, especially if you're hauling a Roadglide and Grizzly in the back. Options like the drop down queen beds in the back add a bit of weight, if you don't need them, opt out.

That said, look at the Torque 301 and the Raptor 300MP. Good Luck!

Buy the new truck before you buy the new trailer. Your current truck will really limit 5er choices to the small end. I'm curious how it handles the current rig and what the scaled weight of that is. Happy hunting.

Stay as small as you can, or get a diesel. Pretty simple, gas just doesn't have the torque available that is needed to effectively pull a larger 5er. My 2500HD is the 6.6 Duramax, and I had a 40' toyhauler. I was at the upper end of the capabilities of my truck, and a total of 22,000lbs, (loaded) which it the total CGVW allowed by Chevy. Nothing agains't gas, but I don't think gas can handle too much.

I have a 2500hd with the same engine; I've pulled my cyclone with it a couple of times and it wasn't really do able (voltage's are the same size)

our previous 5th wheel was right around 12k loaded; it was well sized for the 2500hd

regarding the quality issues
all the standard rv manufacturers will have some quality issues; voltage, cyclone, raptor all have pro's and con's but I wouldn't categorically assert any of them are quality deficient

I walked through all the brands, we landed on cyclone and have been very pleased with the final product.
