As far as the common sense comment well maybe I didn't explain clearly enough what I just wrote above because the original post ordered a Curt hitch and if that works for him it works for me.
I think I also said at this time B&W did not make a hitch for GM over 20,0000lbs for the puck system. AT THIS TIME. It would only stand to reason since GM was 2 or 3 years behind Ford and Ram to install the puck system.
Hopefully I have explained myself more clearly this time. I only know for sure why I turned away from the Curt hitch which I almost ordered.

I'm guessing you bought your Ford because you felt it was the best truck? Are you saying the Curt is a better hitch than the B&W or just cheaper?
I don't own a Curt but I have unhitched one a couple times and it was not easy cheazy.

I spoke directly to B&W and they do not make over 20,000 lb. puck system for GM & Ford at this time not to say they won't in the future. I really liked the fact B&W had 1 1/8 thick contact on the pulling surface of the pin. Common sense means very little when the gentleman already had his mind set on the Curt, in which case I'm happy for him.
What SAE standard does B&W rate their hitch by? I see no mention on their site. The Curt meets SAE J2638. Also, you say B&W has a 1 1/8" contact. B&W states the jaw is 1" thick. Do you have a special build hitch with thicker jaws? Looks like somebody is missing some common sense in their measuring, don't you think?
By the way, I had a B&W before I bought a Curt. It was a good hitch, no problems, good customer service. Fortunately I am not a fanboy and will actually look at other products the same way I did before I bought my new truck. I guess I see no reason on spending more money on something that is rated to do less. Also found the majority who have an issue with a Curt hitch have never owned one and are in the B&W fanboy club.
I have already hooked up the Curt and am very pleased with it.

So what you are saying is that the B&W is rated for 20K ,and the Curt is 25K, so common sense means very little, I guess because the Curt should also be rated for 20K ? Could there possibly be a reason in the construction of the curt that makes them rated at 25K ????
I read this quite often, and wonder how some of these conclusions come about. :h

They rate their hitches to the weakest link, what does that tell you? RAM puck RVK3600 is 25K.
It tells me the same thing all hitches do, they are rated for a certain weight for a reason, whatever their weakest link is. Not sure of your statement.
I am sure you are not trying to say that B&W is the only hitch that is rated correctly, that would a pretty long stretch.

Thanks for all the input. I ordered a Curt Q25 yesterday.
Good job. I managed to have a Reese that has served me well for several years, have no doubt the Curt will do the same.

I was looking at the Q24 for the puck system for the new GMC and Curt was the only one found and probably the reason endorsed by GM. upon closer inspection I was looking at the jaws and closed they look about 5/8 inch thick . However if you look at the inside of the jaws where contact is being made with the king pin the contact is 3/16 inch thick. I feel has to create an early wear factor on the king pin.
The 20000 lb. B&W has jaw contact of 1 1/8 inch on the inside contacting the pin. B&W are not yet producing anything heavier than 20000 lb. at this time for puck system GMC only RAM.
I suppose if I were delivering trailers for a living I wouldn't be overly concerned
After these discoveries my 20,000 lb. Reese with jaws 1 inch outside and 5/8 inside looked pretty good and I just purchased the adaptors from Pullrite to convert puck system to regular fifth wheel hitch. If they become unsatisfactory possibly B&W will have their heavier hitch available for GM
I would think the head for the RAM is the same as the Ford and GM one. B&W derates the Ford and GM hitches base on the mounting system not the head. Think spread of base legs.

In 2014 we were having trouble getting it latched, which was frustrating but a trip to a Dodge dealer as we were traveling thru Idaho solved the issue. The locking "jaws" were off so he ordered a new one and it has worked perfectly every since. something you might want to check into. Hugs, Di

Never had an issue getting mine latched. I always leave the 5er pin box a little lower than the hitch plate as I hook up. As I back up to it the pin box slides up the plate and compresses the truck suspension a little. When the hitch pin makes contact with the jaws I hear a clank and I'm locked in. No fuss, no muss.
I once did have a small issue unhitching. I had backed into a spot slightly up hill and left pretty fair pressure against the jaws. I had to let the truck rock forward just a little then the jaws released.
