Howdy!

We are fulltimers and are considering moving to a Toy Hauler. The two THers that we looked at on the internet that we like that have the same floor plan are the Cyclone 4000 Elite and the Voltage 3970. I have looked at the forums for both of these Hartland and Dutuhman. I would like to here from folk's here on what you think of these THers for fulltiming.

You might as well forget about your warranty as most will void warranty if they know your full timing in them...that is for what ever the warranty is worth anyway.

Congrats on buying the one and only 3970. I saw the pictures on the dealer's website. Really nice looking RV. I hope it serves you well for years to come.

My husband and I own the 3970 the one from the Pomona show. We took delivery on Nov 9th. We LOVE it. We owned a 2013 Dutchman Kodiak before. They have excellent interior that stands up. The leather will remain plush and the cabinets are solid. We have no complaints. It has had a few warrenty issues...example garage radio was not wired right but the dealership is fixing it. We plan on full timing when we change duty stations. Even when we are not vacationing we are out there ar least one night a week !

I would see what the actual warranty says, not what someone who is probably working for a commission says...Go to the Fulltiming forum, and see what those folks say....they can probably give you some good advice.

Also, I think dedmiston is right about the warranty. I realize moisture is a problem in RVs but as long a you control that, what makes some better than others for fulltiming? D they have better appliances, or what?

The Wild Cargo floor plan, and yes, there is only one for 2014, stinks. In particular, TV viewing leaves a lot to be desired, especially if this considered to be an extended stay unit. I like the available bath options (don't know why other manufacturers don't do this too), but Excel needs to remove the blinders and take a look at their competition's floor plans.

The Voltage looks like a nice unit, but I do not like the dual entry bath. I cannot understand the industry's fascination with this concept, and dislike it so much as to be a deal breaker. Again, don't know why every manufacturer doesn't follow Excel's lead regarding bath layout options.

Warranty, what there is of it goes away if dealer finds out your full timing in one or at least that's what I was told.
Only one I know of that's warranted for full timing is the Excel Wild Cargo which also has 2 year bumper to bumper warranty.

Howdy!

We stopped in and looked a a Cyclone 4000 elite yesterday. It was a 2013 model when we advised the salesman that we were fulltimers he stated no problems that fulltiming in it did not void the warranty. I liked the unit it just did not had the options we wanted. One of the thing that struck me was that it had two 3" dumps, one for the gray water and one for the black wateer.

He "semi-lied". The Heartland Owners Manual states full-timing voids parts of your warranty because the unit was not built for full-time use. Our Cyclone was not built very well for camping trips. If we had been full-timing, I estimate it would have been too expensive to maintain within a year.

Get the Excel. If not, go Voltage.

I've always wondered if that's because they don't want to be on the hook for motel bills while they have your "home" in their shop for three months.

I really like the 4000 floor plan. The 3970 looked even better at first. What I think it comes down to is larger couch and black tank in the 4000 vs more kitchen storage in the 3970. Both garages measure about the same. From reading the dutchmen forum it looks like voltage dropped the exterior radio controls and keyless entry.

I just can't see the smaller couch in the 3970 working for me. It looks like only two adults can sit comfortably. I really wanted to like the voltage.

We share the same preference on floor plans.

We saw a Cyclone 4000 a few months ago at a dealership in Florida. Not terribly impressed with the quality.

I've searched for the Voltage 3970 only to find that only one unit has been built. It was for the Pomona show and has been sold. There are pictures of it on the website of Richardson’s RV in Riverside CA. A Dutchmen rep did say the 3970 goes into production in December and should be at dealers after the first of the year, 2014.
