Do you unhook for the night?

Iโ€™m curious, When you stop for the night at Walmart, Park etc do you unhook? With my fifth wheel I have to open a small bedroom slide with the dresser and a large slide with the kitchen table and theater seating. Both on the park side of the Coach.

What do you guys do? Do you stay hitched and deploy the jacks?

Hey Cummins12V98, nice paint job on your coach. I ordered my coach with full body paint. Anything as purdy as a fifth wheel needs to show out! I was looking at Alliance and decided against it because they didnโ€™t offer it. I understand they do now. Thanks for joining in.

Thank you! They call it a "cut and buff" paint job. No seams felt, and very $$$.

Exactly. I wasn't thinking of that en-route, but when we're at home prepping for a trip, the slides are out. We always bring the slides in to hookup because we have to level the FW to the hitch. Once it's hooked up and we need to do any other packing, we put the front landing gear down, level it hooked up, then bring the slides back out. It doesn't take much to level it in our yard.

Probably was a pull-through.

I am sure Barney has something he is thinking about but I would also like to know what unhooking has to do with operating the slides?????

Tires are even off the ground. MC trailer is still hooked up.

I assume the trailer needs to be pretty level to work slide without damage.
Thanks.. that's one possibility.

I ain't got a dog in this fight, but I assume the trailer needs to be pretty level to work slide without damage. I know most parking lots have some slope, or they would be called pools. Leveling front/back while hooked up likely a challenge.

I'm not sure what that has to do with unhitching.

OP originally mentioned having to open his slides. Hence, a couple of us mentioned we didn't have to and he was responding.

Always unhooked when staying a campground. I stayed one night only (ever!) in a WalMart. I still unhooked and left truck about 6" forward from trailer hitch. Just felt if I needed the truck for an emergency or to get away, I could go.
I haven't thought about needing an emergency getaway. We stay hitched but maybe I need to rethink my process.
