Ever seen the door in the slide?

We saw this door in the slide at Tampa for the first time and then the website we love to follow did a little feature on it today in their video. Link to video. Thought it was unique enough to share here.

Anyone on here have the door in the slide? I just don't see how that can be a good idea. The park we are at now that would not work you would be stepping out into a tree. What I do want is their stairs for my regular door. Very sturdy looking. Maybe they could adapt it to slide into rv instead of folding against the wall.

That's very interesting. But more steps then I would like. Plus would need a better hand rail. I use ours all the time with our three step 5th wheel.

We have both an Excel Winslow with the slide entry and an Open Range TT with the raised deck and sliding glass door in our Winter Texan park. The steps into the Winslow are surprisingly easy to negotiate. I haven't measured the rise, but it didn't seem too bad at all. Sure does make for a lot of room in the living area of the trailer. The deck on the Open Range takes a little while to set up and tear down with most of the time used in putting up the railing. The deck itself folds up against the side of the trailer in pretty short order. Sure is a nice place to sit on a warm afternoon. I don't think I'd mind having either one of them.

There is just so much that the designers can do with a box on wheels. As soon as one figures the other guy has a good idea the whole crowd follows.

IMO this is not going to be one of them.

The center guestroom instead of a bunkhouse that is appearing, seems to be a good idea.

My guess is that could happen to any 5er unless I am missing something. I have never seen any post anywhere where that has happened. But that's just me, and I never thought electric windows and locks would catch on let alone be a great idea....

saw one on the EXCEL, the steps were not that bad but do agree, older folks may not like them. I did like the way the floor plan looked inside. Just not sure how they would work driving down road and locked in place.

Steps with changing dead rise depending on where you are park would not be good. One needs to learn the cadence of steps to walk on them. Chris

Huh. Those steps do not look appealing at all. That would be a deal breaker if I was shopping for a new 5er.

Bad idea as I see it and the other brand that shows a sliding door on a slide that opens to a raised patio deck that has to be put together and carried somewhere. Plus the picture showed a concrete patio. Might be for some but I doubt it. However it could make some happy. Happy is good.

Just the amount of steps to get inside is a deterrent for the older RVer's and those with some disabilities. Far too steep and for someone like my mother-in-law who even had trouble with the steps inside leading to the bedroom which was only 2 steps I know she wouldn't like this idea.

It looks to me like the rise between the steps is significant. I'm guessing like 9" or more. Anything over 7" is a killer for someone with bad knees. Must agree with okiejoe this probably will not set well with elderly RV'ers.

Some Forest Service campgrounds I camp at, wouldn't have a wide enough pad to accommodate slides both sides of the RV plus the need for a landing area for the steps.
