Years ago in AZ an RV was headed up to the mountains north of Phoenix. A motorist behind them noticed flames coming from the back of the RV and pulled along side to signal the driver of the problem. The driver of the RV then proceeded to the next exit and pulled into a gas station. You can guess what happened next.

I love the comment on the originoal article ..he found the leak and eliminated it at the same time. He's a lucky man.

I can also tell you that you shouldn't use your lighter to check the gauge on a truck's propane tank when you're filling it at night...as one of my farm hands found out. :-0

Dishwashing soap in water makes a good test solution, as it tends to make big bubbles that are easy to see.

The traditional method is to use a soapy solution. Pour or spray some on each joint in the system with the system pressurized. When you find the leak you'll see a lot of bubbles formed by the escaping gas. I have just used something like a spray cleaner (409 ect) to do this and it works. You want to dribble the solution on not blast it. Start at the tank and work your way out from there. This includes the tank connector.

You can buy commercial soapy water but anything that generates bubbles will do it. There are also leak detectors but they are expensive and the old method works fine.

Obviously don't allow flames around the area when you do this.
