Frameless Windows?

Looking for a web site that describes "frameless windows" being touted as a plus in some RV's. Best I can determine is that they are double pane? What about opening mechanisms?

Ours has dual pane frameless windows. The dual pane were optional and they work great.

Kinro.

All of our frameless windows open from the bottom, have screens, and while they let airflow through they don't let rain in, so I'm not understanding why some folks would feel like they don't let air in. The larger windows have a top fixed pane and bottom tilt out pane. You don't get the "rotting" and "splitting" gasket that you get with the standard windows after a few years in the sun.

Not for everybody I guess, but I sure like the looks of them and would hesitate to get one without them now as it would look dated. Some even have matching see through graphics over the windows that make them invisible from the outside - kind of cool.

Just a note: I have not seen them in the side of the slides. I suspect they don't slide well through the slide seal. Ours has dual pane standard sliding windows in the sides of the slides.

Can't say as I've ever seen frameless windows as double pane. It would be easy to do on the windows which do not open.

However, many frameless windows have a scissors type deal to extend out the lower section of the window when you want it open for ventalation. Not sure how double pane would work there.

I have to go out to the rig today, I'll take some pictures of details and post them in a few hours.

I will say they have a more 'modern' look, but I wonder about the longevity of the seals, and the 'air tightness' of them.

I also think that they will not provide as much free air flow as traditional slide type windows. Could be wrong about that - ask me in six months.

When we were trailer shopping we really wanted the frameless windows as they look great. That is until we started educating ourselves on them and realized that for our needs they would not be practical . We wanted airflow..love sitting inside with windows open ( weather permitting) and the frameless only open from the bottom just like the old style crank outs. The windows we went with are true sliders and give a ton of breeze when open.So you have to decide if you want that look or if airflow is important..either way your in a RV so all is good !!!!!! Frameless sure look pretty don't they!!

We like our dual pane slide windows for what you say...unfortunately more and more manufacturers are going frameless and not sure there will be an option for the traditional style.

Frameless is just a appearance thing as the glass overlaps the rubber seal around the window frame making it appear that the window doesn't have a frame. This link has some info but not much. These are original equipment on many RV's. Randu
