Fuel Transfer Pump Problems

I have a 2012 Fuzion 322. I used the fuel transfer station once last year. I did not store it with any fuel in it, nor did I use any gas stabilizer (kick myself for that one). I went to transfer fuel from the tank and it kept blowing the fuse. Research on the net tells me that it could be the gear has swollen because of the ethanol in the fuel. The dealer says that this is a sealed pump system and that I can't simply replace the gears. I am not sure what brand of pump is in the rig, but I think it is an ECI which is the commercial resaler for GPI. I called GPI and they said it could easily be the gears. Any suggestions or tips on what I should do next. I am out of warranty. I still have a full tank of fuel that I need to transfer out of there ASAP. I would like to transfer it to the generator holding tank and use it to extend my dry camping capabilities as I did last year, but the pump is not working as noted above. Thanks in advance.

Mine had the same issue and I simply pulled the pump,removed the main large gear and sanded it just a bit and reassembled. Haven't had a single problem since.

Yep, had to replace my gears last year. The originals lasted 9 years so I guess that's not too bad.

Hello, I've got a 2005 toy hauler with a PBL fuel transfer pump. The pump is getting power but does not run, nor is it blowing fuses. I assume that it's not the swollen gear problem discussed in this string but maybe I'm wrong.
Thoughts anyone?
Is the pump simply shot? It ran last year with no issues, but nothing now.

ok, the pump is a GPI EZ8RV. I took out the pump and removed the gears and the motor works. I called GPI and told them my findings. They have a mere gear that solves three problem of ethanol swell. they are warranting the gears at no charge and I should be up and running by Monday. They were awesome to work with. thanks for all the advice and help. On to the next problem.

For what it is worth, I have a GPI transfer pump on my voltage 3200, the pump is mounted vertical with the head of the pump at 12 o'clock and is two years old and last year I had a similar problem where the pump would start sluggish and blow the fuse. I have read about sanding the side of the gears, or replacing them. But before I did that, I decided to just loosen the four bolts each approx. a 1/4 turn each that hold the cover down and I have not had an issue since. Now you have to watch that it will not leak from the o-ring so pay attention to that.... I had noticed that in the early morning when it was cool out it worked fine and it wasn't till it got hot out mid day that it would not work, since the fuel swells from the heat. So I did this experiment at the time the pump would not work, which was in the middle of the day, in the 80's and just by reliving the pressure on the bolts loosening each bolt a 1/4 turn it started working and I have not had an issue since. Just my 2 cents.............

The PBL pumps on the Weekend Warriors had major issues with this. I have to change them once every year or two. It was easy on these as four bolts on side of pump to access the gears. Has another smaller door also with four bolts to access the screen filter on the same cover as these four larger bolts). You can go to a local pump store and they sell the gear kits. The gears just pull off the shaft (one is indexed with a small rectangular plastic insert) and there is also an o-ring for the cover to replace that is included. Just a little fuel comes out the pump when opening it up on these.

Would see if yours is similar or perhaps even the same pump. I know the gear kit is Graco part 260277 on mine.

Boogie - I can't even siphon out of my tank, it has an anti-siphon system that won't allow a hose down into the fuel. I HAVE to fix the pump. I'll post on this forum what I come up with.

I have the same problem. Filled mine with ~30g for the bike while I'm living in a half-way point for work away from home. Been siphoning fuel using some hose (use ~2gal a week). My pump is locked up as well, but not much I can do about it now till I get the tank emptied.

Lucky for me it is really easy to use a piece of my spare water hose shoved down the filler hole to siphon with.
