G-Rated Tire Recommendations

I need to replace the Goodyear G614 Tires on my trailer and I'm hoping to do it without having to resort to bank robbery. Doing an online search, I'm finding a few Chinese brands I've never heard of. Anyboody got any real world recommendation for a tire somewhere between these two poles?
Thanx,
Jim

I think I'm going to go with the Sailun G-rated tires. These are the same brand recommended by Titan Guy and I have found no posts which would make me be concerned about the tires. I am not going to H rated tires because I have 7K lb axles and the G series will exceed that. I have been to the scales fully loaded and we have a pretty healthy safety margin. That combined with the price difference makes the choice easy for me. Thanks for the input.

Jim

Several months ago the OP says he's going with the Sailuns. Anyone have a dead horse pic.

If you want to use failures of GY tires prior to mid 07 fine but that is not an accurate portrayal of the EXCELLENT record of the GY "G" and "H" tires since then.

If you are happy with Sailuns and want to buy their tires no biggie to me. I have had ZERO issues with MANY thousands of miles using US Made GY tires.

To be clear it is ONLY RV's I use GY. I use Michelins and BFG's on my vehicles.

Are you serious mid 2007 :h Just google Goodyear G614 Blowouts, and read . Several threads as late as 2014 on G614 blowouts. My portrayal is spot on , they DO NOT have an excellent record, never have had. One set was actually the H tires from Goodyear.

Your success does not mean anything compared to the track record they actually have. I too have been running G614's with no issues. Mine are now 6 years old, and time to change. When I bought them in 2010, they were pretty much the only game in town for a G rated trailer tire, and nearly half the cost they are today.

Try as I might I have yet to read or hear about a failure with the Sailun S637's, they have been around long enough now to be hearing about issues if there were any.

My point is I want a tire that I don't have to pay for the insurance that comes with them to cover damage, and lost time. I want a tire that does not have the track record of the G614's. Sailun's IMO fit that bill at half the cost.

Please explain "outperforming" ?

Pretty simple isn't it, how many failures have we read about the G614's, and how many have we read about the Sailun S637.

For arguments sake, instead, lets call the Sailun far superior in dependability, if performance bothers you.

It seems he's a bit quiet about them at the moment., but facts are facts.

There is no denying the blowouts ,and damage the G614's have caused. Sure they will pay for tires, and damage if its their fault. Not much consolation sitting alongside the road with a blowout.

IMO I would just as soon have a tire with the track record of Sailuns ๐Ÿ™‚

Well - don't recommend them to "Cummins12V98"...:W

OP - "The Chinese" are VERY capable of manufacturing QUALITY tires.
(Even Michelin has mfg facilities in China)

The "bad rep" of/for Chinese comes from the ST tires, mfg in China to ST tire specs for re-sale in the US - under various brand names...:(

.

I have never said a BAD thing about Sailun tires. Personally I have had such great service out of my US Made GY tires I will stick with them.

I did tell my Son to check them out when his (previously owned) GY "G" tires I bought from a nice RV.net member wear out. He is using the GY's on his 14K dump trailer.

We purchased a used Carriage Carrilite a few years ago. The RV dealer had replaced the original tires (Goodyears) with new Jin Lin's made in China. After 3,500 miles the sidewall on one of them blew open going down I 90. I pulled into the Goodyear dealer in Billings, MT and replaced the rest of them. Yes it was almost $1,400 but 5 years and almost 50,000 miles later I have not had the first tire issue.

Off topic a tad... But I'd recommend the G rated Sailuns also. I reported on them several years ago as being one of the very few Chinese tire manufacturers that are ISO TS16969 certified. Same certification met by them that my manufacturing plant also meets yearly to compete globally and attest to a Quality product!

I'm giving myself a pat on the back because I was right about these tires manufactured in China when most wouldn't even accept these at first.. But the tires have proven out and I feel all warm and fuzzy about that:B

Three years of good reports have proven out!!

A great price for a VERY good tire!
