G614 on 16 x 6.0 rims

Is anyone running G614 on triple axle (18, 000#) trailer with 16 x 6.0 rims? We tried 235 85R16 Michelin Ribs, but the rear 2 tires on each side are almost touching. Goodyear recommended rim width is 6.5. Looking forward to comments.

Sounds like your problem is not the wheel but how tall your tire is. I just went from a 225/8016 to the Saliun 235/85/16 Saliun which is like an inch taller but still had plenty of room between tires.

You just need a shorter tire....

You are no where near maxing out those tires with your trailer - 6 inch rims wont hurt. The issue have is axle to axle spacing, rim width doesn't do anything to that. Some people think the tires swell to a larger diameter on a narrower rim, but the steel belts in the tire wont allow that. They do grow when hot, so if you don't have at least about an inch between them cold, running in summer heat will be exciting.

Have run my 614's on 16x6 for the last 2 years and 7000 miles without a hiccup. I hope that continues (knocking on wood).

I bought our 614's from Discount Tire along with new wheels. They mounted the tires on 6" rims so I "assume" we are OK. 2 years later everything looks OK.

LT 245/75-16 work great on 6" trailer wheels and have since light truck tires started using a LT designation.
Now 6" wheels on the truck is a different pickle.

Check out some of the other heavy RV trailer forums and your gonna' find the G614 RST on a 6" wide trailer wheel works just fine for those folks.

I'm running six Sailun S637s G tires on a tri axle GN trailer with 6" wide steel trailer wheels. The tire rolls on a very flat tread with no riding the centers even with a empty trailer.

I was going to say mine are on 6.0 rims, but I checked the wheel manufacturer and they are actually 6.5, however I have installed them on 6.0 before.

LT245/75R16E tires also require 16x6.5" rims.

So do G614's, however people put them on 6" rims quite often. Chris

LT245/75R16E tires also require 16x6.5" rims.

Hum. I'm looking at the Michelin tires to put on mine. Hope I don't have that problem.
