Half-ton towable Toyhaulers

Anyone have any experiences with these toyhaulers? I have been looking at the STEALTH toyhaulers, specifically the SS2216 and SS1913 models. We have an 06 Nissan Armada, so I believe that I am within my limits of towing a half-ton capable trailer. we are equipped to tow 9100lbs with a max tongue weight of 910 lbs.

If there are any other models, or if you have any suggestions, please let me know. We are looking at a decent sized garage for two youth quads and two adult sport 450s.

Thanks in advance.

What is the tongue weight of the trailers you are considering when unloaded?

My 22' WW had a tongue weight that was a whole lot heavier than 1k pounds and that was before I put a single thing in it!

Does your Armada have rear ride leveling? The only problem I see with towing with an Armada, is wheelbase. You will want to stay with the shorter trailer. Get a weight distribution hitch (Eqaul-I-Zer or better) and enjoy!! Stay out of 5th while towing, LT tires for truck and trailer, and find the brake controller harness link!

I have the living lite VRV 8.5x22. It should fit the 4 quads you are looking at. Tongue weight will be about 850lbs and the total trailer weight assuming the 2 full size quads weigh 800lbs and the two smaller ones at 450lbs would be around 5,250 without water/gear/food/etccc Add about 1500lbs for that and you are slightly under 6750lbs. Perfect for *most* 1/2 ton but not all!

You're looking at campers that weigh around 600-700 lbs. on the hitch and maybe 5,000-6,000 lbs. loaded? I'd do it in a heartbeat if it were me. Just don't skimp on the WD hitch.

Look at the Puma Unleashed models, too. I love the Puma line. We had one for four years and it was the most dependable camper we've ever had.

We tow our Keystone Outback 230RS all over North America with our Ford Expedition. I am within ALL ratings I know about. Yes, it is a lovely toyhauler. Can't comment on your models, but ignore those who say no half tons can tow a toyhauler, been doing it since 1999 with two different TV's and TT's. Over 100,000 miles of fun.

IMO, if I have to think about what I put in my trailer and how much I can put in my truck...... I don't have enough truck. I want to load as much******as I want and not have to think about "Hmmmmm, if I load just 1 more case of beer, I am going to be over the tow ratings of my truck. Guess I better leave it here." Nope....... (but that is why I have a 1 ton dually ๐Ÿ™‚ )

The specs on both those trailers are well within the Aramada's range. I currently tow a Keystone Outback 250RS with an Armada and it's 7500 GVWR I believe. Assuming on either of these trailers, you can be under the cargo capacity limitations with the toys you plan on hauling, as well as the other items you load with, it will tow it fine. It won't go fast, and you'll need to be patient and smart on grades, but it will tow it. I've gone three seasons wtih my travel trailer and armada, and honestly it's been great (we've been from PA to TN, and mutiple times to VA, up and down Rt 81). It's certainly not the crew cab dually I towed 38' of horse trailer with, but it's fine for it's job.

You will need to be smart about how you load. Don't load heavy on the tongue - as tongue weight gets heavy fast. Keep the Armada itself packed light, or you'll be over the vehicle's gross. Weigh your toys though to ensure that they don't max out your cargo capicity right off the bat and you can't load food, clothes, water, whatever else you might need for time away.

Also, look at a good weight distribution hitch. I use the Reese Dual Cam, and I highly recommend it. Don't let the RV dealer talk you into a simple weight distribution with friction sway. It won't do the job with the Armada's soft suspension and short wheelbase.

ETA: Do some searches on here regarding Armadas, weight distributuion hitches etc, and you'll get a ton of feedback on towing with it.

Too much trailer for your vehicle.
Get a bigger truck or a smaller trailer.

There is as much difference in one half ton truck to another as there is from the best half ton truck and the best 3/4 ton truck. The very TERM half ton towable does in NO way say that any PARTICULAR half ton truck can tow it. It merely means that SOME can tow it. With ANY trailer you plan on towing you should be looking at actual specifications as they compare to YOUR truck and forget about the "sales slogans". Their PURPOSE is to mislead the unwary buyer.

I find it INTERESTING that you've already been told that your truck can't tow ANY tow hauler. This it TOTALLY incorrect information.

If you are referring to me, I said the tongue weight on any toy hauler will be too much. I didn't say his truck can't tow ANY toy hauler.

There are 1/2 ton towable ones out there, but yes, this good advice that next time I will follow. ๐Ÿ™‚

Look at the VRV Quicksilver from Livin Lite and the VRV XTR from the guy who used to work for Livin Lite but started his own company. He is who I bought mine from and ATC builds them. Both are built to last and are made of aluminum so very light. Mine is too small for you, but weighs less than 5,000 lbs. fully loaded with a 983 lb Harley in the back.
