HELP!! Furnace won't work

I'm in Bryce Canyon and during the night my furnace stopped working.

The thermostat is working but the blower only comes on and blows cold air for about 30 seconds and then stops.

I have checked the propane and all is good.

Is there anything I can do to get the system running again? It's COLD up here.

Thanks for any help!!

I honestly don'e know what type of furnace I have in my Grand Design but mine quit working like that and it wound up being a reset switch on the side of the furnace itself.

when using the mr heater buddy make sure you have a window or a vent open so CO does not build up in the trailer

Just had this happen on our 5'er. Turned out to be a bad igniter. Replaced it and good to go.

Thanks for all of your responses.
It looks like a major job getting the furnace removed from the cabinet.
I'm going to take it back to the dealer and they are going to make it right if it's the last thing I do.
In the mean time I have a "Mr. Heater Buddy" that will keep the morning chill off until we get home.

Thank you all again!!! Bryce Canyon is beautiful!!!

I had this same thing happen on a Suburban furnace. It turned out to be the gas valve. The furnace would cycle on, but since no gas was getting to the burner it would not light, so the fan would run for a while and then shut off. Check first to see if the thermostat is bad by bypassing it. If that's not the problem, then the gas valve may be it. I would not recommend tackling this one, as the valve is imbedded in the guts of the furnace, which needs to be removed from the RV. Special wrench was required on mine, which I didn't have anyway. The valve may not be a stock item anyway. Good luck

IF on shorepower than your converter should be supplying 12V DC power

Fan starts runs when t-stat calls for heat.......but no main flame

When fan comes up to speed (at least 75%) the sail switch closes........12V DC is then sent thru sail switch to/thru limit switch to control board. When purge is complete 12V DC is sent to gas valve to open it at same time DC Voltage is sent to spark electrode which lites off main flame...main flame then produces milivolt signal that goes back thru spark electrode control board to hold gas valve open until temp set point on t-stat is satisfied.

DO you hear any click, click, click........sprak electrode trying to light main flame?????

No clicking..no spark...no main flame

Could be sail switch not closing, could be spark electrode/high voltage wire bad, could be control module....could be electrode not positioned directly in main flame.

Which MODEL of furnace.......may be able to test in place or might have to pull out and bench test.
Is it time for your medication or mine?

sounds like the dealer just told you a story, I,d start with your battery you gotta have 12volts , even plugged into shore power.

Why didn't dealer clean it out?
Depends on model!
Some it is very easy to access from access door on outside. Easy to use compressed air to blow it out.

Why did the mfr leave it there in the first place?

I am on shore power and I'm sure the propane is not an issue as we have used all propane appliances including the furnace since switching propane tanks.

This is a new trailer with a Suburban furnace. I'm not sure of the exact model as I'm not at the trailer right now but will get it in few minutes.

This happened to us before and the dealer said the problem was manufacturing debris that had been left in the furnace area. So I'm thinking it may need cleaning again. How do I access it and clean it?

Thanks

If you recently changed propane bottles and had the system open, it might be as simple as air in the line to the heater. It might take a half dozen restarts with the thermostat to get the air purged. Just went through that on our last trip. Had me worried for a few minutes, because it was going to be cold that night.

If the burner doesn't light, the system shuts down to prevent raw propane buildup.

I hope it is a simple thing like that.
