First one 2 years, 2nd one 8 years, this one we'll keep til the wheels fall off as we plan to live in it down the road when we build our retirement home.

I've had mine for nine years. Have replaced the aluminum front with fiberglass after a hailstorm, had the frame repaired (both were expensive), replaced all the tires, added 6 volt batteries, fixed damage after being broken into twice, replaced the radio and outside speakers, replaced TV antenna (does anyone know how to repair broken coax connector?).

I don't want one any larger but slides would be nice, less maintenance and work above all. I've kept it in a covered awning storage site since I bought it but am disappointed with the security.

I only have a 3/4 ton Duramax, so I can't go to three axle unit and really don't want the hassle of trading up.

My selection criteria was:

A front bed, sleep without unloading
Able to haul two dirt bikes
Within the weight limits of my F150
Used, in good shape, much less expensive than new (no debt)
Within 400 miles of home

I searched for 53 weeks and then one turned up 20 miles up the road.
Four years old, stored indoors.
"I'm a happy camper."

Probably keep it until I am too old to ride or too old to wrestle the trailer.

Not if you shop around.
I don't think you're going to save 35% by "shopping around".

I don't know, last one I paid 17,500, had about 3,500 additional into it for hitch, batteries, tires, bed, etc. And I sold it for 18,000 4 years later. All depends on the deal you get. $5k less than local dealer buys a lot of depreciation.

Not if you shop around. I tried buying from a local dealer for the third time. But they are still $5,000 more then if I drive 350 miles (their first offer was about 10k higher). Even after asking for the bottom price a few times. Crazy thing is, the toy hauler I was asking to buy from them has been on their lot for 3 weeks and they haven't even listed it for advertising yet. Or cleaned it. When we looked at it, it was still messy from shipping.

Our 22' TH was like this but had a slide with jack knife sofa. We would sleep next to the toys on midway stops.

We just bought our fifth RV since 1988. This averages out to about seven years per RV.

I kept my first trailer for 2 years and then moved up to a 41' 5th wheel with 21' of open garage.
I couldn't see how much bigger I could go from there, so I knew I would have it for a long time.
Have had my current trailer for 12 years and don't see any reason to get rid of it anytime soon.
