Max weight on roof access ladder

Does anyone know what weight the ladders are rated for?

I weigh 200 lbs and the ladders on the rear of the 5ers to gain acces to the roof don't appear all that sturdy.......:h

One probably should check with the RV's manufacturer. I've used a many a ladder in my days, and there's no way the ladder on our Open Range is rated for 300#. If it is, they are using some obscure rating system.

I'll use it if need be, but to do routine stuff like cleaning off the slide tops on each trip, I carry along an electric leaf blower, push broom, and one of the 7' folding step ladders.

No thanks - whatever the rating is!.:S

Spent a lot of time climbing ladders....the one on the back of
my 5er will never be one of 'em..:(

At home - extension ladder.

On the road - I'll take my chances with a collapsible (straight) ladder.

Either one placed with a much better climbing angle than the flush-mount item.

The stock ladder *does* make a nice tie-off (at the top) for the ladders placed alongside.

As always, whatever rings your chimes - YMMV.

The ladder on my Canyon Trail is rated for 300#s. I doubt that all ladders on RVs would be rated the same.

That being said, I don't think I'd be climbing mine, if I weighed 280!

If my 16 foot step ladder is close by I always climb as high I can then use the RV ladder the rest of the way.

I'm 260+ and climb it. Make sure the screws in the rungs and attaching it to the trailer are tight. They are like the trim screws and work their way out.

Well, thank you all for the replies......

It seems like 300# is the magic number then. Damn the torpedoes, I'm climbing that ladder.....:)

I don't worry about them climbing up and down, the concern is those bouncing bikes attached to the latter even though they weigh half as much.

RVIA says they are supposed to be rated for 300 minimum.

BUT: Not all of them are really attached to anything behind the fiberglass cap. There should be a 1x4 backer or a steel plate inside but since nobody can see it there have been manufacturer who may have skimped on it. Most Titanium ladders have no center support due to the big picture window. A couple of our owners have noticed that the LOWER mounting screws were failing and found that the bracket was attached only with sheet metal screws. I pulled the passenger's tail light and could see that the 1x4 was in place on mine. So much for QC

I weigh almost 300 lbs and I climb right up. The dealer said he had seen guys bigger than me go up the ladder. There should be no problem with you.

On my last Keystone (2010) one of the end brackets on one of the rung ends failed/cracked. On my 2013 Keystone, the rung ends are beefier, better quality. So far so good.

Mine's stickered 300 pounds and I'm 265 usually. I hate that dang thing, but I've never seen anything to indicate that it's losing the battle when my fat-a$$ climbs up or down it.

Mine says 300. I am 240. I use it very gingerly. I never put all my weight on one rung as I don't trust it.
