Middle bunkhouse 38' and smaller

My family is currently in the process of looking for our first camper. We really like the mid bunkhouse design because it will allow everyone in our family to have a comfortable seat in the main living area. I really like the Jaco Eagle 30.5MBOK because it is lighter and it will not cause my truck to be overloaded fully loaded. I drive a 2016 Chevy Duramax 4x4. Does anyone know of a Mid bunk house design other than the Jaco? I would really like to find some comparables that have 2ac's auto leveling and outdoor kitchens that do not exceed 13k fully loaded. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Thanks, Happy camping!

IBcarguy... I was curious, are you using the 4" offset ball as well? I'm looking at the Anderson hitch and I'm interested in getting the Jayco 30.5 MOBH. I drive a 2016 Silverado 2500hd w/t a 6 1/2' bed and It has the B&W turnover system in it. I'm just worried about the 5th wheel hitting my truck. I will be new at this and don't want to have to worry about. I also didn't want a big slider in my truck because I need my bed space when I'm not towing and like how the Anderson could be easily removed.

thanks

Same set up as mine. I bought a B&W 4" offset ball but was unable to use it. The ball is 1" higher and the AU hitch wouldn't lay down flat against the bed so I went back to using the standard straight ball. I reversed the pin adapter to shorten the swing radius of the pinbox for increased bed rail clearance but in tight turns, you really got to watch the trailer clearance at the back window because reversing the adapter moves the trailer closer to the cab. Normal turns are fine, but hard turning when backing gets really close. If I had it to do over again, I would have bought the B&W Companion hitch instead of the Andersen. It's removable in 2 pieces (not real heavy) and can be used with the 4" offset ball. They also make a sliding version of the Companion.

Has anyone used an elite sidewinder? I was think of running this setup with a Jayco Eagle Ht 30.5? The Reese 5th airborn has a air ride, so this should take care of the Chucking right? It also has a turret that moves the pivot point back 21" so the pivot Pont is at you pin box wings and not at the king pin. This should make tight turns worry free right? Has anyone run this? Or does anyone have any more sugestions on a 5er that would be in this class with a mid bunk house? The jayco seems a little high is it worth it?

I am using an Andersen Ultimate hitch and reversed the adapter to shorten the swing radius of the pinbox which keeps the pinbox inside my bed rather than over the bed rails in tight turns. I still have to be very careful in tight turns to watch for the front of the trailer touching the back glass of the truck. If your hitch is a sliding type, it won't be a problem. The MORryde rubber pinbox can be used with any type hitch and I wouldn't tow without one. It's even offered as an option with Jayco 5th wheels. I installed mine last week.

I was thinking about getting the Reese Revolution to make sure I don't have any issues with the trailer when I turn tight. My truck has a 6 1/2 foot bed. Do you have any issues? Is the MORryde rubber pin box something that you can add on to the Reese Revolution to help out with chucking?

I just bought a new Jayco Eagle HT 30.5 MBOK a few months ago. I tow it with a GMC 2500HD Duramax. We absolutelly love the layout with the mid bunk room. Our last TT had a island kitchen which we kind of miss but have no regrets. My Duramax has plenty of power and suspension to pull it. Anything else that we looked at with the mid bunk room was way too big. For us, this is the perfect rig for us. Ours has most of the options but not the 2nd AC or the automatic leveling system.
Only problem I had was a "chucking", jerking over bumps but solved that with a MORryde rubber pinbox. I also think the 16" wheels is a must to achieve a level trailer when hooked up to your Silverado.

According to Jayco, the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (lbs) is 11950. and 9600lbs dry. Does anyone else know of a trailer that has this same setup in the weight class? this would give me plenty of room for any extras I need to bring as well room for a generator if a wanted to add one.

I suspect that even with the Jayco 30.5 MBOK which you mentioned, you will exceed the RAWR of your vehicle. I have a lighter smaller Jayco 5th wheel and I am very close to the max rating of the rear axle on my dodge ram 2500. I am not the weight police, but I am just mentioning this so you will be aware.

It looks like the sandpiper's ar 15500 when loaded. for my, truck Chevrolet says my max tow weight is 14000. I really wish they made more light weights like the Jayco with the mid bunk design
