OK old timers... any tips for moving a 5'ver in the rain?

I'm in NW Florida, going to be be moving the RV about 100 miles with forecast of heavy rain the thunderstorms. Yeah... I know... sit & wait... but that's not an option, as we have an event to attend, so....

What have you learned? Any insight appreciated. Thanks.

I love a heavy rain, it's a great time to wash the dust off the 5R or TV. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Slow and steady wins the race.

All your gear will be a mess and you'll need to clean things up once the rain stops and your gear has dried out. Last weekend I cleaned everything up after our New Year trip. EVERYTHING had a layer of yuck on it.

Just drive a bit slower and leave more room for stopping.

I guess we all forgot to say good boots, or in Dutchman's case a good pair of strap on sandals!!

You may want to check your windshield wiper blades. Other than that, just be careful of the fools out there that don't know what hidroplaning is.

I try to do as much as I can in the dry weather, like dump tanks and store hoses, take off tire covers if on, even TV cable wire. Put on a rain jacket and go for it. Try to wipes the slides after they are pulled in.

Drive a little slower.

I try to put as many items as possible away before the rain. We too are moving to a new site on Monday (Jan 23) We already know that we will be in for storms here in Florida for most of the weekend.
Before the rain and while it's dry I bring in my awning, stow the BBQ and all our solar lights.
What most people forget to do while driving in the rain is to slow down. It never ceases to amaze me how even when the speed limit is 75 MPH try to do 90 in the rain. Really? what's the hurry? Slow down and live. Can't even remember how many RV's I have seen off the road and I can likely guarantee that speed and driver error was the cause.
You can't buy happiness, but you can buy an RV and that's pretty close.

Check the top of the slides as they come in. Even with slide cover I still get a little water on the top. I just keep some towels handy. A good rain suit is always a good thing to have. I also keep a good head lamp with it in the camper easy to get to.
Be careful to stay off the shoulders of the road. Just take it slow it's flat down there water will stand on the road with heavy rain.

if I waited for dry days to pull my Fiver, it would never leave the yard! I'd say 50% + of my towing is done in the rain, no wonder my unit is never clean outside.

As you bring in the slides, put paper towels around the seals but still on the inside. If your seals leak, you will see the telltale wet spots.

Do you believe that 5ers are only designed to tow in dry weather? We seldom tow in dry weather living in the PNW. Heavy rain, sleet, snow and standing water on the road, all in a normal day of towing in the PNW.
