My towing considerations...do they work?

OK, finally decided on the truck for hauling my new 5th wheel, 2005 Silverado 3500 with Duramax, auto tranny, single rears. Now planning on having the Reese 33047 16K hitch installed and getting the JT Strongarm kit for the RV (in my sig and profile).

Here's the specs
Hitch 1279
Gross 10079
Dry 7490
Cargo 2530
Fresh water 60
Gray water 35
Black water 35

Is this enough?

I have a buddy who is a diesel mechanic for a Gold mine in Nevada, he has the LBZ duramax and tows a toybox (Voltage) 38 - 40 foot 18K. He states it pulls great, so ya the FW you want to pull with LLY 3500 is childs play.

Good call on the LB! I would highly advise the B&W also. No question if your hitched or not and quiet. B&W is 100 percent US Made, the REESE is imported.

Example. Our truck is rated to tow up to 17,050 pounds. We installed hitch rated to 18k. And guess what we are now looking at trailers with 16 to 16.5k GVWR.

Excellent advice me again. I'm not going to tell what kind of hitch to purchase. I had a 16k Drawtite slider for 9 years. Drawtite is a Reese with a different sticker . Now I have a B&W Patriot. Love it, Excellent hitch.

I bought the rail mount B&W Patriot off Amazon for $549 a few months ago and LOVE IT!
I sold a Reese 16k slider that I wasn't happy with (though it never failed me) and I never once used the slider, and couldn't possibly be more pleased. Both are good hitches no doubt. But coming from someone who has used both, I feel the Patriot is a better more solid hitch.

I tow a slightly heaver 5er with a 2001 2500, and do well.

Easy peazy. That would be a decent fit for my old '02 D'max 2500HD, let alone a 3500.

x2 on =any= B&W hitch.

I seriously think you may like the B&W more. Powder coated. My painted Reese was starting to rust even though I use a tonneau cover. Tweetys shipped my 18K hitch in one day. Here's a 16K non slider using the industry standard rails if that's what you have. 16K

Just noticed you are talking about a 2005 truck, so a 16k hitch covers that vintage trucks capacity. Chris

Get the crusader 295rst with the 16 inch wheel/tire package. If it is the touring edition it will have that.

I did the same handle mod so I could roll my cover over the hitch.
