New 5th Wheel price

What do you pay for a new RV. We are looking at getting a 2018 5th wheel. There is a good chance that the dealer will have to have the factory make it for us. We will pay cash which means it won't be sitting on their lot for a period of time. What is the % off of MSRP that we should look for?

The higher the MSRP the more % off. Like AP did, we traveled couple hundred miles and saved close to $10K.

Careful with that. When you have the dealer order from the factory when that particular units shows up......thats your unit. If it arrives and is a hastily assembled POS then that opens up a whole can of worms. First off its probably going to take between 6 to 10 weeks or longer. If it arrives, is built like ****, and you decide not to accept it, then you are at square one. Either let them attempt repairs before you own it, or reject it and start over by having them order another from the factory essentially resetting the clock. Believe me it can happen.

It is much better to find an "in stock" unit on the lot where you can go over it with a fine tooth comb before committing.

Another title for this post could be "How it took 8 months to buy a new trailer" LOL!

P.S. If you do have a dealer order from the factory they are most likely going to want some type of deposit. Make sure its refundable should the above happen and make sure you get that in writing signed off on by the general manager or owner, not the salesman.
Too many geezers, self appointed moderators, experts, and disappearing posts for me. Enjoy. How many times can the same thing be rehashed over and over?

Well, you can argue the cheapest price is maybe not the best deal. Don't get me wrong, I pushed for and got 30% off list, but after the sale service is worth something too. A buddy of mine went shopping on price alone. Bought from dealer a couple hours away to save some $$$. Now, he can't get service locally because the local dealer is booked solid and rightfully gives service preference to their own customers first. ALL RVs need service, arguably more so when brand new. Just some food for thought...
But then on the other hand..what if the local service is terrible? or if you buy it to travel the local dealer won't do you much good..or what if it doesn't need much in the way of warranty repairs, the warranty only lasts a year in most cases. I bought mine 300 miles away. Saved 39% off msrp. If I need warranty repairs I can always find a mobile repair center that will fix it. Just have to get pre-approval from the factory and may have to pay the repair service and get reimbursed. Just not a big concern..

You have to shop and look at bottom line prices, not how books are cooked.

It took me a two day drive to pick up mine but I saved five grand over the local stealers.

^^What he said. 25-30% is common. Don't forget to hit them up for accessories and other "services".

30% off the MFG's MSRP, not the dealers inflated MSRP
