New 5th Wheels are AMAZING

Yesterday I had to drop off my Class A gasser at the shop. I had about an hour before my wife was going to pick me up so I went and looked at the new 5th wheels. OMG are they amazing.

When I was a kid the 5th wheel was just OK to me. You had to crouch down to get to the bed and I never cared for that. All of that has changed. I could not believe some of the layouts. Full living rooms with multiple couches, center island kitchens, pop up LED TVs and more.

I thought I had a lot of living space in my Class A but the new 5th's are HUGE. If I already owned a truck that would tow one, I would consider it for my next rig. I totally get why people that already have the truck would by one of these.

A lot of the "glitz" is just one more thing to maintain or to have go kaput. When I get to the "travel" stage and not the "camping" stage, maybe think more of them, but to me less is more.

Yeah they are amazing........

Unfortunately there is a lot of 'glitz', bells/whistles etc.

Folks see the 'glitz' and think 'high quality'
Is it time for your medication or mine?

Doesn't sound too much like camping to me!

They didn't say they were camping. Just in a campground. ๐Ÿ™‚

Remember, not all of us are "camping". I travel.

You have to be in/out of the truck to disconnect it. But you can get fifth wheels with levelers (or upgrade aftermarket for about $4,500).

Otherwise, there's no real difference.

With your class A, if you're towing- do you have to disconnect the toad before you level it?

Yah.. after years of 'camping' we deserve a break from the mundane.

Yes, they do, if you pay for them.

That's the one thing I'm getting a bit tired of, the hassle of leveling sans jacks.

One of the things we love about our Class A is the set up. If we pull into the campground and its raining, we don't have to get out. We can set up from inside and last fro about a week before we have to go outside. That's hard to beat.

Well, many people *think* they have the truck. All that luxury comes with a weight price.

The think part maybe true. But the new pick ups and their payloads are amazing as well.
The prices of new diesel pick ups are as amazing as the payloads:D

I'm intentionally avoiding looking at the new ones. I can't afford one and it just depresses me.

That's funny, I keep thinking that the Class A's today are amazing when I see them ๐Ÿ™‚ My jaw drops when I see the room in those where the whole side of the unit is a slide.

Serious, the 5th wheels have come a long way in the last 15 years.
