Poly disc for pin plate

Hi all,

Newby here--

So I've bought the disc for the pin plate, it is fully seated and it appears to be a tad too thick as the jaws won't close on the pin now.

It seems to be maybe a 1/16" too thick. I have a Reese 16k slider hitch.

Any suggestions?

I picked up a half thickness plate - I think it was at C.W. Didn't notice it until the next time I bought a full thickness and thought "Wow that one is thick!". They both worked in my case but you might want to look into finding a 1/2 thick plate.

Full timing isn't "always camping". It's a different life style living in an RV.

While looking for a half thickness plate I took a belt sander to the thick plate. Finished product worked fine.

Have you tried using a pin stretcher to make the pin longer? They are to expensive to buy but maybe you can rent one.;):B

These pins are pretty much standard size and length and I would be surprised if you checked and didn't find an existing plate already there. Many people use these plates so it is likely that the prior owner left the old one on when he sold it. I just picked up a used 5th a few weeks ago and discovered the plate was already on it when I tried to put on the new one. I took off the old plate and put on the new one, it fit fine

Sure there wasn't something on there 1st? My 1st 5er had a pad that was the same size as the bottom of the pin plate, didn't notice it until I installed the new one.
It was in bad shape, so i took the old one off.
