Anything will leak eventually. If they were such a problem, then many of the RV manufacturers wouldn't be installing the QD drop as it is as it would be considered a liability (i.e. and explosive one). I'm not going to lose sleep over it.

my BBQ at home has been installed off our main tank for over 15 years sand has quick connector. the propane company inspects our stuff every 2 years and no leaks yet, I guess anything can leak eventually.

Fortunately I have a tee connection where the water heater is. I tee'd off that. Only need a 6' hose. I went to the local propane dealer and had them fab up the hose and quick connects. It was relatively cheap.

I just use this hose (only I have a six footer) to connect to whichever LP tank I'm not currently using.

Great thread! Now I know how to set my Q grill up to use my auxillary quick connect. This forum is so informative.

the middle slide on mine contains the stove, I did t off the pipe there and bought a 15' quick connect hose kit at the "depot of home". this way I had plenty of room to move the grill and keep it out from under the awning.

If your fifth wheel is typical, in that there is a separate 30# tank on each side, then if you trace the lines they probably come together at a manifold. Many have additional ports that are just blocked off. From here you could plumb an additional line with a QD.

I've already done my grill conversion, removing the regulator, and installing the QD male end to hook the hose to. I was able to order a 25' gas line from Amazon here, and add the QD fittings to both ends. I also ordered one of these so that I could still connect a standard 20-30# tank if I do any tailgating.

Here is a pretty good DYI link with photo's and part #'s that I found helpful: http://www.forestriverforums.com/forums/f68/kchinths-apex-288bhs-mods-102353.html#post1121560
Good luck.

That is a preference question.
you should insert the quick disconnect where you would like to use the grill most of the time. If I remember correctly at out house the hose is about 10' to 12' long, in my case I would put it behind the axles.

I was able to place a tee in a line to the heater & extend it to the side of the trailer with a quick disconnect.
