Hi travelers. We are in California and recently received DMV registration renewal fee of $700.00 for our 2016 35ft fifth Wheel. I was just curious, in your state what does it cost to renew your registration. ๐Ÿ˜ž

Correct, annual registration costs in Arizona are based on cost or book value, not sure which, irregardless if it is a truck, car, RV, or boat. The annual registration cost declines almost exactly 15% per year, until it bottoms out I believe somewhere in the range of $50-80 per year. When our 2014 Honda Accord was new, the registration was between $400-500 for the first year, and has been declining ever since, was about $240 this year.

From the posts in this thread, it sounds like we are paying a lot more for registration here than many other folks ...

Our State fee for our RV is $90 and the personal property tax is around $140 for a total of around $230, costs just about the same as our SUV, but the state fee is only $20 on the SUV.

Just a little update, our fifth wheel is two and half years old and it's at this rate. We don't want to start talking about the my truck registration. Love our state but it is out of control.

In Indiana, we pay a excise tax based on value. Cars and trucks have a maximum cap on the value; however, RV's are considered luxury items and have no maximum limit. Last year when I registered my 2016 Jayco Pinnacle 42' FW, it cost $1,447.00. This year it will be between $1,150 and $1,250. I takes about 6-7 years for it to be reasonable. You would think it wouldn't be so bad in the state that manufactures the majority of RV's on the road!

Just to compare... about the only tax break you get in Ontario, Canada.
Non-commercial trailer regardless of size or weight. One lifetime registration fee of $72.00 Cnd.

Now the tow vehicle is subject yearly fee and subject to many factors including a deep discount if you live in Northern Ontario vs. Southern Ontario which is about twice the amount.

Commercial trailers and vehicles are hugely expensive.
