Replacing Outdoor Speakers

The outdoor speakers on our 08 Forest River toy hauler are rotten and have lost all usefulness. I've taken them apart, surveyed replacement speaker options, and decided it wasn't worth the money to replace them. We have a portable Bluetooth speaker we use around camp that is a much better option anyway. The dead speakers just fill the 7" hole in the side of my trailer they occupy. I've been trying to think of something (lights, etc) I could put in place of the speakers, but nothing useful jumps out at me. Ideas? Thanks in advance.

I have a Bose Bluetooth speaker and still use that, great sound and I can put it anywhere in the campsite without having to crank it up and bother others.

The challenge with speakers mounted on the outside of trailers is finding some that meet the very shallow mounting depth that is needed.

I have a friend with a JBL Bluetooth speaker about the size of a large beer can and can say that little thing is quite impressive.

Thanks for the responses. The existing speakers are marine grade and I do not believe they are leaking. I say this because there was no sign of water damage when I poked around (including removing the speakers; then putting them back in). Due to the thin walls of the trailer, they are some sort of slim-fit design and there were few good replacement options (all somewhat expensive also).

OP... I'm so nervous about outdoor speakers. You said your speakers were old but did they ever leak? I see a big hole just waiting for water to get in.

Thanks

Dennis, since this is the Toy Hauler forum and since many of the members camp in the desert or other places other then campgrounds, you might want to be the one that camps away from him. Just a thought.

Camp on.
