Replacing vent covers

I think it's time to replace the vent covers on the roof of the 5er. Ultraviolet really does a number on plastic. Not really too interested in climbing on roof to do the job. What should I expect to pay for time and materials? Looking for some average so I'll know if I'm getting a reasonable price quote.

Anyone done this?

Thanks for all the thoughtful replies. I had assumed that the vent covers were screwed into the roof and heavily caulked. Guess I'll have to look more closely! Happy New Year and thanks again!

FantasticVent covers are VERY nice, I have used the MaxxAire but they are second best for sure!

My MaxxAire vents have rain sensors but we want our vents to work rain or shine. First mod to the new MobileSuites was 3 FantasticVent covers.

The FantasticVent opening on the end is easily removed and so is the whole cover if needed. What I really like is there is no screen to collect junk. With out the screen the air flows well. They do have a grill with about 1/2" holes to keep the big stuff out.

Spent the money they are WELL worth it!!!

I replaced the crank up vent cover over our toilet room in about 45 minutes, had to go on the roof to straighten out the tab on the hinge and slid the old cover out and the new cover in... re-bend retaining tab and finished the rest from the inside.

Its an easy job to do.

All work is done from the inside. Hardest part was figuring out which vent cap to buy. Easy after that.

Would certainly recommend covers like Maxxair to save the OEM covers and allow them to be open in a rainstorm. Search this Forum for Maxxair for more information.

Using in the PNW, we always have rain, well a lot anyway. They allow ventilation even on rain and wind.

Just replaced one yesterday only took about 30 minutes. Very easy job to do which for a RV was surprising.

Funny, just ordered 2 replacement vent covers minutes ago from Amazon 14.99 each. I'll handle the replacement myself.

If you are talking about the crank up covers, most of the work is done inside. It is not hard to take apart and you could have most anyone go on the roof to slide old cover off/slide new cover on. You would reconnect the new from inside and done.

I had my done in Las Vegas by a mobile repair guy. The vent was only 15.00 to 20.00 bucks, but the labor was about 80.00. You should be able to get it cheaper, mobile repair is not cheap.
