Anyone with real world experience with the spray on alternatives to the rubber roof (aka the pond liner) care to share their experience?

I have owned 4 different RV's with rubber roofs, not one issue. Simple preventative maintenance is the key.

Talked to both RV Flex Armor and Rv Armor both will not do slideout tops just the roof.I am wanting to do mine but would also want the slideout tops done also.Getting only the roof done will still leave me with worries about the rubber on the slide tops.

Learned something new today. I always wondered why they never used a liner type option for roofs on RV's and looks like they did but I didn't know about it.

Very cool. Not worth it on a new rig with a current roof but if you're planning on keeping it for a long time this is an awesome option.

Thank you all for sharing.

$$$$$$$$$$$$ is why. How many =new= RVers would spring for that extra $2-4k if offered as a factory option? Not many, is my guess. It's only us "old salts" that have had roof issues that would likely do it and, even then, a goodly number of us might simply do a DIY coating of some sort, as soon as the warranty ran out.

FWIW, I do agree that it would be a great option...along with factory disk brakes, solar, more/larger batteries, larger tanks, etc., etc.

I got a quote of a little over $4k to do a 28-30ft trailer. I could see doing it in 8-10yrs or earlier if a problem a rose...but a brand new rig...nahh, unless you got it like that.

I know I had a rough estimate on my Komfort and, with no underlying repairs, it was more than half what the used value is. It was figured at 28' roof length, with 1 A/C, 2 skylights, 3 crank vents, TV and radio antennae and 3 tank vents all removed, re-sealed and replaced after the roof was done. Way, way too much for me, especially if roof repairs also needed to be done.

I agree Lyle! That's crazy as my 33ft coach would cost 33x$180ft = $5940!

Maybe if Insurance was paying.

Any idea what the cost was? Why did they do this mod?

..........My RV Armor estimate(2 months old) was for $130 a foot ! I've read they MAY , do it for $ 120 a foot . RV Flex Armor will run ~$180 a foot . , jf

Is that square foot or running foot? That would be expensive by square foot.

RV Armor IS NOT sprayed on. It is rolled on with paint rollers. RV Flex Armor (rvroof.com) IS sprayed on. Here is a picture of my roof just prior to the spraying. The previous picture I posted was right after the spraying was done.

I guess my first question is why they go over the top of the pond liner instead of spraying the Rhino or RV Armor directly onto the wood. It seems that doing the latter would result in a practically indestructible roof.
