tv lift mechanism

The tv in our living area is one that lifts from behind the fireplace. It now needs assistance to raise or lower the tv. After inspecting the mechanism I can see that there is a gear that is broken and does not always turn when the shaft it is mounted on is turning. I was not able to locate the mfg of the unit. Does any one know who makes these for Forest River or a possible place to get parts?

I busted mine up when I moved the camper without realizing that the TV had not been lowered. Took me a full day to remove it, rebuild it and replace it. I really wish the rods that lift mine were heavier duty, they were bent up pretty badly and I could not find replacements so I had to do my best to straighten them. Now it wobbles a litle going up and down but no big deal.

IMHO a good reason not to have a hidden TV.

DRM I see you have a Wildcat 313RE which is what I have too.

Go to www.wildcatcamperforum.com. Then go to general discussion. Tell Chris what the problem is and he will get with you. He is the factory rep. He monitors the forum frequently. He does much better in the winter then when all the RV shows are going.

You might also want to look through some of the long threads that are still active as I know the Wildcat number is in there. Someone can also give you the number if you ask them so you could start your own thread. TC is a mod and she might eve be able to give it to you.

Thanks for the update. This is what's RIGHT with American business. The antithesis is why consumers have sought products elsewhere. Today I just got through dealing with a business that sent me the wrong power supply for 12V LED strip lighting I'm putting in a bathroom remodel. I pointed out which one was sent vs which one I ordered. I was then required to take a picture of it and send it to them before they would comment. I'm almost 65 and barely computer literate. Managed to send it and they then told me they were sending a mailing label to send the wrong power supply back to them, THEN they would send me the one they should have sent in the first place! I e-mailed them back and asked them if they considered it right that I had to wait for my transformer because someone in their warehouse messed up my order. They then told me they had gotten authorization to send out my order and when I got the new one I could send the other one back.

My point is that they should have done that in the first place without me having to jump through all those hoops. Sounds like you were taken care of right off the bat. Congrats.

The results,

Found thru Forest River that the mfg of our lift is Smith Richards. Forest River suggested that I contact the dealer with that info. Called dealer was on hold for a while and then had to leave a message. While I was on hold I emailed Smith Richards and within 5 minutes they called back. I asked if it would be possible to purchase a replacement gear. Dave from Smith Richards told me they had some early units of our lift that had a problem that they have since corrected and would be more comfortable replacing the unit. He asked if it is something I think I could install. I told him sure, so he is sending me a new lift with a shipping label to return the old one at no expense to me. I was very impressed by his actions. I see plenty of threads on this and other forums of horror stories that people have with various companies. I wanted to take this oppurtunity to give credit to Smith Richards for being a stand up company in a world were good customer service seems to be a lost art they have mastered it.
