I have an 08 Dodge and it tells you on the information center when it's re-gen.
Hadn't heard of that...didn't have it on my 2010 or 2012 and nothing on the 13 either...only get a message if DPF is "full" or close to full and vehicle needs to be ran at highway speed. My 07.5 Chevy had nothing on it either stating that the truck was in "Regeneration", and again, it wasn't on the 2010 Ram, the 2012 nor the new 13'.
Just because you didn't see it, doesn't mean it didn't happen. My wife and I, both seen it on the information center. They re-gen when needed. If your not looking, while it's being done, you will never see it. We had the information center set at mpg. info. when it happened.

I am glad to hear you got a Dually. My son's truck and my truck are alike except his is SRW and mine is DRW. We have pulled my 5er with both trucks.
Towing is more stable with the DRW and now he wishes he had DRW. You won't be sorry that is what you got.

The truck has never regened, Why is that so difficult for you to believe?

Back to the question I posted, I do not recall ever hearing any signs of the truck in regen mode. How can I tell when it is happening, does it make a noise?
There is nothing that tells you that you're in re-gen, you won't "hear" anything, only sign might be the "smell" outside of the truck...the exhaust temps get hotter.....The truck will run a little hotter, (at least it did with the 07.5 Chevy I had as well as the 2010 Dodge I had...."IF" you were to use your information center and had "instant mpg" showing, you would see a drop in mpg until re-gen is done. When I looked at average mpg, I'd see that when I was cruising at 60 mph or so and see the "line" on Average miles per gallon down around 8-9 mpg, I'd know I was in a re-gen.
My 07.5 went through regen, my 2010 Dodge went through re-gen and the 2012 I had went through re-gen...all had DPF (diesel particulate filter). Those that say their truck hasn't went through a re-gen are wrong unless they've deleted that part of the emissions on the truck.
Again, you won't get a message unless your DPF is "full", then you'll be told to run at highway speed for 30-40 mins and it should be ok...I never ever got a message telling me I had a problem with the DPF, and they've been on my trucks since the middle of 07'....BUT, they all have went through re-generations....only way you might know would be to pay attention to aver or instant mpg on information center if you have one in your truck
Thanks for the help but I don't think I will ever be able to figure out when it is going on. I have a MPG gauge that only shows average MPG, there is a bar that show instant but it bounces all over the place depending if I am going up or down hill. There is a digital and regular temperature gauge, maybe I will start monitoring the Digital gauge to see if I notice and change in temps.

And I am SO glad I ordered my 06 Dodge Cummins dually! I purposely did because I knew about all the new emissions plumbing BS, pee tanks in GM and Fords. My 06 is now 7 years old, has 67,000 miles, and the original batteries!
Considering DEF didn't come out until 2011 model year, how come you were worried about it in 2006? :h
