Love these quotes.

Here you go, take a look at this video, then see if your comment was correct. I believe you will find you were completely incorrect.

If you really wanted to get crazy....you could install the hitch attachment to the front of your truck and "push" a 5th wheel into place, just like you can do with a bumper-pull.....

Now if they REALLY wanted to make that device the ultimate, the wheels on the dolly could be "driven" by an electric motor. You could position a 5th wheeler without a tow vehicle!

I would think that with the ability to jackknife further and being able to loosen the steer wheels it might be easier.

This has got to be one the the coolest inventions I've seen in a long time! Well done!

And for Bumper Pull, this is amazing. Uses the trailers brakes to steer the trailer to the hitch ball...........and now a laser has been added to make bumper pull hook up even easier

$1250 seems like a steal!

Now if it has it's own axle weight rating sticker...

The automatedsafetyhitch.co, web says 6300 lb load and 300000 draw. They show 8 lug wheels which = 7k axle on their delux model dolly.

With a 3/4 ton truck with a 6200 RAWR and a 6000 FAWR plus the 7000k dolly axle braking = 19500 lbs of braking performance.
Now add a triaxle trailers 6k axles = 18000 lb + 19500 = 37500 lbs of braking. No wonder they advertise much better braking performances.

They show a heavy duty model with 10k-11k lb axles for really heavy stuff.

Interesting that the dolly wheel turns as the rig goes around a corner which negates the trailer cutting corners.

I did a search on them and Hitch-buddy.com appears to be defunct. Not sure if they make them anymore.

Found my pics. Here they are:

and

Truck's owner said he actually =gained= turning radius slightly, because the hitch kicks outside the turn, somewhat similar to a bumper hitch.

Also, as I said before, he had about 50 gallons each, water and diesel, under the deck.

This product doesn't really look new and different. I mean they had them for that movie which was some years ago and variations have been around for quite some time. They've just never gained any popularity for some reason. Maybe it was justified, maybe not.

This is what I have found when talking to people. The negatives are from people who have never seen or used it. Every contact I have made from current users swear by it. I like the idea of having the cargo capability in my truck bed.

If you've never watched Lucy and Desi in Long Long Trailer you should. It is just a fun take on 50's RVing. However, I bring it up here because they have some kind of similar dolly set up on their trailer. It is pulled with a Mercury convertible which probably weighed more than most current 3/4 ton pick-ups! Funny movie!

Yes, that was a good one.

Why? There are 3 axles under the trailer, all with, supposedly, working brakes, the Safety Hitch has its own brakes and 2 axles on the TV. I count 6 axles, all with brakes. The big thing that people forget is that the trailer is supposed to STOP ITSELF and you should NOT even feel it pushing you.

Lyle

Lyle haven't you seen the death and destruction all up and down the hi ways by "unsafe trucks and trailers"? Roads are just littered with them. In my years on the road I have seen....................one such accident. Of course it may have been because he was driving in a snow storm with 60 mph cross winds. But none the less a big safe dually would have saved the day. Oops, ever seen a dually the snow? Never mind.

Chopper, please show the source of your info that this is unsafe?? Otherwise nothing but hot air, especially if DOT approved in every state....

Stefan, guess you didn't pickup on my sarcastic satire on the post. I think the weight police and their "my way" attitude are 99% BS.
