I am trying to find exactly what size 5th wheel I can handle safety.
I have a 1999 Dodge 5.7 Cumming Diesel Cub Cap long bed.
On the driver's door is says: GVWR 8800 Front GAWR 4410 Rear 6084
Weighted empty at scale: Front axle 3880 Rear 2780 Total weight= 6540.
To figure out what size of 5th wheel I can safety tow?
GHWR or Pin weight: 8800 lbs X .25 or 25% = 2200 lbs.
I tried looking up the GCWR which I think is 15,000 for this truck.
So for example: A Montana 293RK stick says: Payload 2,080 Loaded Trailer 8,320-10,400
I take 10,400 lbs for the tailor and multiply .25 which equals, 2,600 lbs. Looks like this 5th wheel is too heavy. Right or wrong.

I only have truck weights for now, my ordered Arctic Fox fifth wheel hasn't been delivered yet:
2006 Dodge 3500 Laramie 4x4, SRW, quad cab, short bed. It's equipped with a PacBrake, Vision 19.5 inch wheels, and 90 gallon in-bed transfer tank.
The truck was weighed without driver but all 125 gallons of fuel capacity topped off and the Superglide hitch mount installed. The actual hitch was not mounted, it weighs about 200 pounds.
Steer Axle: 4580
Drive Axle: 3500
Gross Weight: 8080

Dankenbring, what were your axle weights, that is far more important the GCVW or GVW of the TV.
That's not technically correct. All vehicle manuals state that GAWR or GVWR must not be exceeded. Here is a direct quote from Ford's manual:
“Addition of trailer tongue (trailer king pin for 5th-wheel towing) load weight and weight of passengers and cargo must not cause vehicle weights to exceed rear GAWR or GVWR.”

Re-weighed my truck today....I had put a Westin HDX stainless steel brush guard on my truck a few months back...so I weighed the truck today with just me in it.....full tank of fuel, full tank of DEF, picture frame adapter with Reese 20K signature 5er hitch mounted to the adapter and a tool box with about 75-80# in it....
Steer Axle= 5400# (FAWR is 6,000#).
Drive Axle = 3840# (RAWR is 9750#) (AAM rates it at 11,800#).
Gross weight was 9240#.
add the two boxers (80 +55=135) + DW, 120 (don't tell I told:) = 255 additional lbs of weight...gives gross weight of 9495#
GVWR of the truck is 14,000#, so even with my 5er hooked up with a hitch weight of 3500#, that will put gross weight at 12,995# ( 9495# + 3500#= 12,995#)....GVWR of 14,000# still has me 1,000# under my trucks GVWR. and well under my RAWR of 9750# . (3840# truck empty +pin weight of 3500#= 7340#, which is 2,410# under my trucks RAWR of 9750#).
Around Thanksgiving, on the way back from camping, will re-weigh with 5er hooked up, last weight on it was pin weight of 3500# (was lighter before, but put a generator in the front of the 5er to have in case of an emergency...GVW of the 5er is 16,975# and last time weighed, it was 16,120#
What truck is that?
Truck in my sig...2013 Ram 3500 crew cab/long bed/4X4 with Cummins & Aisin tranny in Laramie Longhorn trim...385HP/850ftlb of TQ and with 4:10 rear end truck has a GCWR of a little over 37,000#..though it'll never be loaded to that weight...not hardly:)
Sounds like a very solid Tow Vehicle... My 2006 F550 only has a 33K GCWR...
