Retired Federal Employees & PMB #s - Question!

I need to know what issues, if any, you are having meeting the physical address requirements for FEHB, Banking, etc.

If you are using any nationwide (PPO) healthcare, such as BSBC, GEHA, etc., and you are using a mail forwarding company with a PMB #, how do you satisfy the physical address requirement.

Same question for banking.

Any other issues full-timers are having using PMB #s.

Thank you.

And people still don't get it.

Using Apt, Unit, etc is not fooling the post office or institutions. It is the address that gives it away. It is registered as a commercial address receiving mail and not a residential.

What does PMB stand for?

Personal Mail Box

It actually stands for "Postal Mail Box".

According to USPS postal address standards document #284 it stands for Private Mailbox.

Retired USAF here.We use a South Dakota forwarding service (My Dakota Address).
It is our only permananant address.has been for 8 years of fulltime traveling.
We also use # rather than PMD.For all practical purposes,we "live" in that little box in Madison SD. 🙂
I have no problems using them for AF retired information,IRS,VA,Vehicle registration,TriCare, etc.
All banking is done on line.
While dealing with the VA in Phoenix AZ,I submitted a temp.address at a local UPS store for the time it took,no problem there.(fortunatly I was not needing any medical services from the VA
As with most (I think),the mail forward service lets us know whenever mail arrives there and what it is,they send it on to us when we ask for it.

It's pretty simple. Simply use the Street Address for your PMB and the # Sign before your Box Number. Do not try to overly complicate Things.

The only time that didn't work for me was when the guvmint was giving away HDTV converters.

Interesting responses.

I want to use the same address for everything, DL, Banking, Healthcare, etc.

I want to prevent any issues or questions when I change and list my new address.

From what I am reading here is to forget listing PMB and use APT or just the street address on all my documents, i.e. DL, Banking, etc.

I guess the mail forwarding business would offer advice on how to address this.

I want to be legal and not create any issues.

Thank you.

Dave

Don't use APT unless absolutely necessary. Use # - that is the legal Post Office requirement other than using PMB. Now some businesses will change the # to APT, but that isn't your problem.

A couple of the investment first have (had) auditors that did a CYA and said that the mail forwarding address couldn't be used but it was the AUDITORS, not any agency saying this. But other firms want your investments and have developed tools to assure themselves that you are who you say you are.

I figure if my address is good enough for the State Department (passports) and the IRS then it is good enough for any bank to us.

Have been fulltime since 2005...I am retired Federal and DH retired state employee. We use a mail forwarding service SD and use # not PMB for our box number in our address.

This is our legal address and the ONLY address we use for everything... banking (BOA), BCBS (EPO plan) health insurance from State of MD retirement, both pensions, DL, vehicle registrations...absolutely everything and have NEVER had one single issue in 9 years!
