Santa Fe parking and COE parks.....

Baby Girl and I are at Cochiti COE RV Park about 20 miles South of Santa Fe. When we leave here, I'd like to visit Santa Fe and stay in COE parks in the northern park of New Mexico. Two questions: 1. What is parking availability for 30 ft Class C's in Santa Fe? and 2. What do you know of COE parks in the northern part of New Mexico going to Arizona. I am headed to the Grand Canyon.

You can take the NM Rail Runner train to downtown Sante Fe right from the station near the Cochiti COE RV Park. Kewa station.

About $6 for a day train pass.

Also we like to stay just south of Taos at the
Orilla Verde Area of the Rio Grande Gorge to be exact. Also see Río Grande Wild and Scenic River
$15.00 per night, includes water and electrical hookups. No sewer. $7.50 with Golden Age Pass. 50 amp service. BUT no dump station so you have to go to a RV park in Taos to dump. We use the Taos Valley RV Park on the right side behind the big ACE Harware on the south side as you are just getting into Taos. About $5.

I second the New Mexico State Parks. The one that you really should go to is Villanueva State Park. It is not far from Sante Fe.

Abiquiu Lake is the only Corps of Engineers campground much North of Santa Fe. There are a number of New Mexico State Parks North of Sante Fe including the two Skip mentioned. Navajo Lake is the closest northern park to the Arizona border and the four corners area. Blue Water Lake is closer to I-40 East of Gallup. We have stayed in a number of new Mexico State Parks and not been disappointed in any of them.

When in that area (Northern New Mexico) we always enjoyed Lake Huron or Lake Valdo. Both are pretty much typical COE type campgrounds. Can't help with in Santa Fe because we almost NEVER camp in a metropolitin area.

I parked in this area, http://www.santafenm.gov/rv__bus_parking, when in Santa Fe a few years ago. Good location. I arrived early, got a shaded space, walked around town, and came back midday for a nap and lunch before venturing out again.

As for COE camping in Northern NM, I recommend Riana Campground at Abiquiu Lake.
