voting and driver license issues with full time

I've lived in Florida since 1961, but am getting out of here and will not have a physical dwelling for some unknown length of time.

Looking at Traveling Mailbox since that address is in South Florida and I won't have issues with my health insurance (complex matter too involved to explain). So ... I get this new address. I can still vote? I have to get new driver's license? Are there pitfalls I need to be aware of, and to avoid?

I have been using a PMB for about 20 years and Bank of America and my various investing sites have never blinked an eye. Just get rid of PMB and use # or Apt or Unit, whatever.

Absolutely not true that banks won't accept a PMB.

The camel in the tent that you didn't ask about is that financial institutions are unlikely to accept a PMB address.

IMHO, it's unfortunate that our country requires us to be a state citizen, instead of a citizen-at-large. I insist on participating in national level elections but really couldn't care less about local issues at my commercial mail forwarder county.

Yes there is something wrong with it, but there will be no problems.

The local election officials rightly take a dim view of those voters, especially when it comes to local issues. There is something wrong with people who never step foot in town or county voting on bond issues, county elected officials, school boards etc. A crackdown wouldn’t surprise me.

The state will mail the requested ballot to your address. (The same address on your DL and everything else that is supplied by the mail service) The mail service sends it to you wherever you are. You send the ballot to the state. I don't see an issue.

The only difference that I know of is that you will have to request a mail in ballot every election and that you will have to have a reason. Being out of state should fix that. You will have to mail the ballot in and cannot give it to someone else to drop it off. No big deal.

Just basic voting integrity measures.

We have used Fl as a domicile since 2004, and SBI for the last 5 years. It is completely legal, and voting is no problem. DL and title and registration hasn't been any issue either. We had one small mail forwarder go out of business very suddenly and left us high and dry, so if I were you I would go with a highly recommended one like SBI or Escapees or Good Sam.

FL domicile fulltimer here. I use SBI. Yes, we had issues with addresses for voting. County election office wouldn't accept the PMBs. SBI resolved the issue by having us use the physical address for a marina they're affiliated with. We only use that address for voting.

I haven't heard of any commercial mail forwarding services in south FL. Before you commit to them, find out the address they'll issue you and ask if they've had any issues with voter registration. Then check with the county elections office.

As far as your DL goes, FL DMV treats us as homeless. They're supposed to require information on your RV listed as address on your DL. Not all DMV offices are up to speed on this requirement.

I don't know about the one you're looking at, but we use the GoodSam Service out of Crestview for going on ten years and have voted by Absentee in the past two Presidential elections. All our bills and even IRS forms use that address.

I recall a few years back SBI had some issues with the local voting officials, but I don't know what the outcome was. The Escapees mail service Florida address used for domicile purposes is an actual physical address with some actual year round residents, and there are no voting or DMV issues.
