16" tires don't have date codes?

Looking at a 2005 Thor Four Winds 29E (2 slides, 21k miles) for $27900 at a dealer. They will give us $2500 for our used pop-up. It's in our price range, but....
I asked them for the date code on the tires. The response was that 16" tires don't have date codes?? They then said the tires are in excellent condition.

So 16" tires don't have date codes? Is this salesman telling the truth or just too lazy to go and check the date codes?

The other thing is that this RV has a front window which seems to be a red flag for some. Is a front window something to be avoided?

Front windows have issues with leaks along with the front edge of class Cs. The seam under the cab over area act like a siphon to get water inside.
The front window seals and mounting gets a lot of pressure to drive water in.
Neither is a big problem. Just need t get them sealed properly.
The dealer is one that you may not want to trust. I would ask for a discount on the tires. About $1500 should cover tires.

It's guys like this that contribute to the generally low opinion of their "profession".
Dollars to donuts they have a code ending in "04" or "05". IOW, they are the originals and need replacing.

BTW - the 16" LT tires on my truck HAVE date codes!

Front window? Take a good look INSIDE the unit for signs of water leaks. Maybe OK, but front windows ARE susceptible to leaking.
If there is water damage, RUN!

1. We should not tolerate this BS that is so common in RV industry.
2. We should not have to educate these people. Their conversation opener is "How can I help you?" right?
3. Bozo doesn't deserve your business.
4. If this coach is low mileage, good chance the date code will end in "05."

LOL - typical salesman - he knows they are old tires and doesn't want to tell you that and maybe lose the sale - the problem is that in most cases the tires are mounted with the date codes on the inside of the vehicle, so you have to get under it to see them. On my last set of trailer tires, the guy said he would mount them with the date codes on the outside to make it easier to check.

I have a 2009 fifth wheel and the date codes are on all tires. I think they are only stamped on one side of the tires though.

Often when tires get older, they are put onto the vehicle with date code inward when they get older. A piece of clean cardboard and a digital camera set on closeup will give you the numbers you are looking for.

Recently I read an ad for a motorhome. Ad said new tires. When I asked how long they had it... five years or a bit more... did you buy the tires.. No. So the previous owner put them on then.. Well they were in good condition when we bought it. Hmmmm,

The united nations stated that only 16 inch tires do not have to have date codes and they sent special memo's to RV dealers.

They are lazy goofballs. Just go over there and do it yourself if you want it done right.

They ALL have date codes. Even my snowblower tires have a date code.
