255/80R 22.5 vs other size

I have a 2005 Journey 39K and need to replace the tires but would like to use a other brand but no other brand has the 255/80R 22.5 except Michelin. I would like to know what size tire is similar in size if any one can help.

On Michelins website they have a chart to tell you the different tire sizes that will work on your wheel without having the larger tires rub on each other.

I'm about ready to replace my 255/80R22.5 with 275/70R22.5's. I am a member of FMCA and the discount is about $75 per tire. I went to three different large tire dealers and asked the question; If you could put any tire on your motor home which brand would you purchase? I did not say anything about FMCA, all said Michelin. Michelin is good enough for the manufacturer, those three retailers, they're good enough for me. IMHO.

For airplane tires I only use Goodyear. For me, brand is dependent on your application. My cars have neither brand.

I use this site to compare different size combinations. You have to put in 22 instead of 22.5. It says there is a 2% difference in revs/mile with the 275 taking 13 more to go a mile.
Not that a 275/70 is all that common, but a 265/75 is rare and I would carry a unmounted spare if you go with this size which has a 1% difference in revs/mile.

The 265/75R22.5 is almost identical in revolutions per mile, 541 for the 255 and 537 for the 265. I replaced mine with Bridgestone R250's, 265/75 R22.5 last spring, have about 10,000 miles on them and did not notice any change in handling or ride. The speedometer error, if any, is negligible.

I replaced my xrv 255x80x22.5 with 275/70R22.5 size (Sumitomo). All the specs fit my rims and dual spacing. The tire is wider so you will have to check your dual spacing and front turning clearance. The new tires make 549 revs/mile where the old tires made 541 revs/mile, so the speedometer error is very small. I also went up from load range G to load range H.

I've read of some that have also used 265/75/22.5 to replace the 255x80's.

A 275/70 would be close to the same diameter.
