Got to go to Lazy Days in Tampa while in town visiting the inlaws last week. We really like the Winnebago Vista bunk models but are really worried about 30A service and one roof air in a 31’ unit ( we live in Texas) What are the options to add a second air in the bedroom in such a unit? Is this a common upgrade by the dealer?

Thanks to all. We currently have a 50A toy hauler so I understand the diff. I was just curious if MH was better insulated and only needed one unit. Pretty clear the is no to one unit.

Where did you run the 120 romex too? Did you add a 2nd Power cord? Doug

I think I would crank up turn on the dash air and drive to a repair shop.

Yes, you need two and for having a backup, if nothing else. It's all about the money and if it's a deal that you can't pass up, then you mount your own and wire it to a dual power adapter for plugging into a separate outlet on the pedestal. It will run on the genset, as well, if done right.
Otherwise buy a coach with two units and if LAZYDAYS or another dealer was to do it for you, with a bill that will knock your socks off, then option 2, would probably be best.
Now is not the best season for wheeling and dealing in FL, but you might get a decent deal at LD's if you begin with returning the favor of making an offer that is sure to shock them, beyond belief.

We were stuck with a 30 amp site in FL for 2 months last Feb and March. We do have an EMS. Basement air with 2 compressors. Worked fine for us but like I said we have an EMS. Had 31' Bounder, 30 amp and 1 AC unit, that also worked fine for us in FL. That's us, maybe won't work for others.

Well, they have what they have. Opinions don’t help much. Solutions do.

i interpreted the OP as they found an RV they like but have not yet purchased. without an Energy Mgmt System to manage the 24-available amps two AC units would be hard pressed to run simultaneously.

keep looking.

Pretty sure a 30 amp supply should provide 30 amps. Don't even talk about 80%, blah, blah, blah. That applies to continuous duty loads in commercial, industrial wiring. Even then the wiring and breakers will supply 100%. NEC says only plan for 80% if continuous duty loads.

Since you're buying, my advice is not to buy anything without factory 50A service and 2 AC's. An Energy Management systems is nice to have should you have to use 30A service.

As Mile High stated, a 30A rig can use up to 3600 watts of power (30A * 120V) whereas a 50A rig can use up to 12,000 watts of power (2 * 50A * 120V).

Well worth it...and we spend most of our time up north! LOL

Keep looking and good luck in your search.

This model only has 30 amp with no EMS system. So, you cannot add a 2nd AC without a lot of extra cost. And it will not be prewired for a 2nd AC. This model will NOT cool adequately in Texas or southern heat. The rule is, anything OVER 26 feet will need 2 AC units. Ducted does not make a difference. Doug

As Milehigh stated, there are more reasons than just the AC to consider 50 amp over a 30 amp system.

Putting aside the Air conditioners, I wouldn't buy a 30A service rig anyway. I had a 30A fifth wheel in 03 and it was always overloaded. I had to be my own power management system constantly.

A 50A service rig has TWO 50A main breakers (giving you more like 100A at 110V), whereas a 30A rig only has ONE 30A main breaker. The capacity of a 50A service rig is more than double that of 30A service. You will appreciate that when trying to use the convection oven, crock pots, hair dryers, etc while using electric HW heat or portable electric heaters.

While looking for two ACs and 50A, see if you can find units that have Heat Pumps in lieu of AC, another bonus.

It will work fine, IF you have a power control center. Without the computer managing the the load, it won't work.

Remember, the original 15k BTU ac has to be replaced with a 11k BTU unit, and then a second 11k BTU unit added. With 22,000 BTU's in our unit, it was plenty cool in South Florida.
